In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, William Goodell expresses his rejoice at Phelpśs intention of attending the missionary convention at Syracuse. Goodell, however, may not be able attend the meeting due to illness. He then discusses the question of ́Church Discipline,́ a subject matter that Goodell is to handle in the address at the convention. A day after, Goodell adds to the letter that he is enclosing a draft of the paper he wrote about ́Church Discipline.́
