Description
English: Scale ca. 1:5,800,000. LC copy annotated in pencil. Shows "Limits of territory controlled by U.S. Forces July 31st 1863." LC Civil War maps (2nd ed.) 40.1 Another issue. From the papers of Joseph Roswell Hawley in the Manuscript Division. Similar to the preceding issue (Civil War Maps entry no. 40). Legend is changed from "limits occupied by the United States forces July 1863" to "limits of terr[i]tory controlled by U.S. forces July 31st 1863." Available also through the Library of Congress Web site as a raster image. Includes table of "Population Census 1860" by state. AACR2
