Bell / Mendig 1976 – 30 min (SW) Aufnahme: Gabriel Simons; Schnitt/Kommentar: Elisabeth Höhnen Zentren des rheinischen Backofenbauergewerbes waren einst Königswinter am Rhein und Bell in der Nähe des Laacher Sees. Heute noch gibt es einige Ofenbauer in Bell. Grundlage für das Handwerk war ein Tuffstein vulkanischen Ursprungs, den die Beller Backofenbauer im Tagebau brachen; hiervon zeugen noch heute die tief ausgehobenen Steinbrüche. In der Beller Ofenlei gewinnen die Backofenbauer die Tuffsteinblöcke durch Abkimmen, Loskeilen und Aufziehen mit dem Kran. Auf der Hütte werden die Blöcke abgeteilt und behauen |
