This is a copy of a contract between William Lloyd Garrison, Isaac Knapp, Francis Jackson, Edmund Quincy, and William Bassett concerning the financial support of the Liberator
On the bottom of page four, there is a separate note dated Boston, Dec. 22, 1838, amending the agreement so that "instead of the division of the funds between Knapp, Garrison & Johnson as specified in the foregoing instrument Knapp shall not have the preference, but they shall be paid in proportion to the amount of the sums due them."
