| Description |
English: Bridge under the railway This little bridge appears to be a typical agricultural accommodation bridge under the Midland main line near Kingston-on-Soar. In fact it is much more interesting. Through it in fact ran another railway. This was the private line running to Kingston Gypsum mine. This line was still in operation in the late 60s, but I have no information as to when it finally closed - doubtless due to rationalisation of freight on the main line meaning that it was not longer economic to send products out by rail. |
