Summary

English: Bow Castle. The steep southwest facing slopes of the hill facing Bowshank Farm with the cairns on the right marking the location of Bowcastle Broch at 334m 225211. The 353m summit of Bow Hill is 550m to the north. The scar across the face of the hill is a new access road on the line of an old track to the proposed 19 turbine wind farm at Longpark/Halkburn. Planning consent for this wind farm was rejected by Scottish Borders Council on the grounds of landscape impact in August 2005, but consent was granted in July 2006 after a public inquiry.
