Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Electron microscopy of high-pressure freezing, freeze substitution of Singapore Grouper Iridovirus (SGIV) infected grouper embryonic cells (GECs) reveals the SGIV replication cycle. At 8 hpi, the VAS has expanded dramatically causing the nucleus to deform and mature virions have accumulated at the edge of the viral assembly site (VAS) where large vacuoles have formed. Some mature viruses appear to bud into the newly-formed vacuoles containing membrane tubules (arrowheads; scale bar = 1 μm).
