Possibly weird edits

[edit]

I do not want to sound alarmist. But some possibly weird edits have occurred on this page. I still do not know why file names were changed and why some files were removed (one was my contribution). Going through the recent history, I see there were some more deletions/modifications made by the same user. Since it's a contest page of June, I do not know what's the right approach to handle this situation. Your help/feedback will be appreciated.

This is indeed strange. I believe the changed filenames were all corrected, but several entries were removed. I am collecting them here for review:
  • Water Jet of Paradiso, Switzerland
    Water Jet of Paradiso, Switzerland
  • Arranged colored balls in Rainbow order
Arranged colored balls in Rainbow order
  • Memorial to the first homosexual emancipation movement
Memorial to the first homosexual emancipation movement
  • Did I miss any? Kritzolina (talk) 17:43, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, these three. Some removed ones are now in the latest version of the page. John Samuel (talk) 18:05, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Kritzolina @Jarekt What do you think? Shall I proceed and add these three on the contest page? Only the third one is my contribution. John Samuel (talk) 18:53, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    I would say: be bold! Kritzolina (talk) 19:31, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done Thanks. Added a comment directing the users to the talk page. John Samuel (talk) 20:37, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
John Samuel, adding those 3 files to the submissioncontest page is not very useful as nobody will look at this page. However, I added them to the voting page as well. See here. --Jarekt (talk) 00:12, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jarekt Thanks very much. I hope that future contributors are informed about such possible problems (or weird edits), so that they verify that their contributions are not (deliberately) removed. John Samuel (talk) 08:16, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
John Samuel, This is the first time that I know of a contributor deleting contributions of other photographers. We could add a note in the instructions somewhere not to do it, but that seem self evident. Also asking, photographers to verify that nobody deleted their contributions after contest is closed seems strange. However if you have suggestion of specific language to change, we can definitely discuss it. --Jarekt (talk) 23:05, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jarekt @Kritzolina After much thought and to ensure fair wording (especially assuming good faith edits), I think the best approach would be to add the following line (or something similar) on Point 5:
"You are requested to ensure that your edits do not overwrite/modify previous submissions. Please make sure to confirm that your submissions are not unintentionally removed on the final day of the submission period. Please address any complaints to the administrator thereafter."
