Wikidata integration?

[edit]

Is it planned (or already possible) to query the wikidata IDs for specific building entries with the Monuments Database API? --Arch2all (talk) 12:44, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

License

[edit]

@Jean-Frédéric and Multichill: Have we put an explicit license on the database contents anywhere? If not could we pick CC0 or would we be limited to CC BY-SA due to the data origins (Wikipedia). Wondering since I'm marketing the dataset for an upcoming hackathon. /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 13:15, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

We're harvesting mere facts. I'm not sure if these are copyrightable. The database as a whole might be, I would go for the most free license for the database as a whole (CC0). Without solid legal basis, I wouldn't claim any license. Multichill (talk) 13:48, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I’m very green regarding database licensing questions. I would agree with Multichill that the contents are probably not copyrightable?
As for the database as a whole, who would get to claim whatever copyright/other rights there might be? Multichill as the original creator? The three of us as maintainers over the years?
If my agreement or waiver is necessary for anything, I would also go for CC-0.

Ok. Then I'll market it as CC0 until someone tells me otherwise =) /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 16:41, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikidata

[edit]

Hi, i work to keep Monuments Data in Germany up to date by querying local Datasources and compare results with de-wiki-Lists, Wikidata and Monuments-Database. in Germany we have several hundred thousand Wikidata-Entries, quite a few countries heritage-ids complete. For i.e. Bavaria see https://query.wikidata.org/#SELECT%20%3Fitem%20%3FitemLabel%20%3Fvalue%20%3FvalueLabel%0A%7B%0A%09%3Fitem%20wdt%3AP4244%20%3Fvalue%20.%0A%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20SERVICE%20wikibase%3Alabel%20%7B%20bd%3AserviceParam%20wikibase%3Alanguage%20%22de%2Cen%22%20%20%7D%20%20%20%20%0A%7D%0ALIMIT%2010%0A - Is there a chance to add the Wikidata-Ids to Monuments-Database? Also, i will start to update ~50.000 coordinates in Bavaria using the "official" coordinates in Wikidata. Would it make sense to harmonize wikidata and monuments-database data? --Ordercrazy (talk) 09:20, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Finding place by id number

[edit]

Sorry, I've been unable to figure out how to find out where/what something is simply by ID number. Where is a list? (Some photos have no description, only id #; I click on the id number link and it opens up the heritage toolforge org in a new tab, but that never uploads an actual page with info for me. I've tried with multiple browsers. I wish to categorize mystery photos.) Thanks, puzzled Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 01:12, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Infrogmation: Can you give an example of such photos? There are dozens of monument templates, from dozens of countries, and all these systems are different − most templates will link to some official online database, but some may not. For most there will be some list on a Wikipedia, but in some rare cases there may not be. So it’s hard to give a general answer. Jean-Fred (talk) 07:33, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
