Happy new year! This year, France participated to the Wiki Science Competition between November 1 and December 15. We would like to use Montage to evaluate the photos.

Wiki Loves Vizag 2024 Montage request

Hello @Ciell, I've recently coordinated a contest called Wiki Loves Vizag 2024. This campaign ran from January 21st, 2024, to March 5th, 2024. You can find the uploaded media at Images from Wiki Loves Vizag 2024 category. We've categorized the images into five sub-categories, and Round one will involve selecting images from these subcategories. Hi @iMahesh, let me make sure I am understanding your request correctly:
The easiest for Montage is to have all eligible images in one category, so it can pull these into the tool. Does this mean you would like to have separate campaigns for the 5 different topics you specified in the subcategories? Ciell (talk) 11:44, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
Yes, it seems like we might require 5 campaigns for the 5 subcategories under Wiki Loves Vizag 2024: Nature, Built-forms, Transportation, Culture & History and Miscellaneous, followed by a single campaign to vote for 3 winners from the selected 15 images. Although this process may appear complex, it was communicated to the participants before the contest that each subcategory would receive 3 selected images, so we should adhere to that. In the future, we'll strive for better resolution and clarity in contest rules. --iMahesh (talk) 12:32, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

I think I see on your landing page that the campaign ran in IST, so UTC -5.5: I have set the times for the Montage campaigns accordingly, and here are your campaigns:

Thank you very much for the campaigns. But when I try to start one using the Category, it starts with being paused and when I resume, it says "Bad Request: can not activate empty round, try importing entries first". This happens only with entries related to Nature, rest 4 campaigns are working fine. --iMahesh (talk) 18:31, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

Montage request for the campaing "Caminhada Fotográfica para a Diversidade de Gênero no Wikimedia Commons"

Hi, my name is Pedro. I'm part of Projeto Mais Teoria da História na Wiki. We would like to request the creation of the “Caminhada Fotográfica para a Diversidade de Gênero no Wikimedia Commons” campaign. Here is the category. The organizers of the campaign are myself, Danielly Figueredo (Projeto Mais +) and Muriel Custodio. The activity consists of a mini photo competition to be held on June 20, 2024, between 10 am and 5 pm (BRT). We will have 3 judges who will evaluate all the photographs.

Do you, or do the jury members already have experience in using Montage? Because, while we try to keep the tool as easy as possible, the first time using it can be a bit of a struggle. Depending on the number of images you expect to be uploaded on that day, you might want to look into other options that don't require much learning. A very basic thing can be asking the jury members for their personal top 10 and using Excel to calculate the winner. Off course, with 100+ images it might be worth giving Montage a shot and I'd be happy to create the campaign for you after June 20th. :) Ciell (talk) 17:36, 4 June 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Pedro Henrique Batistella (Projeto Mais+): that's quite a tight schedule you have! I can make an exception and create the campaign early, but please be aware you are limited in what Montage allows you to do in advance. Activating the campaign before the upload window has closed means Montage will not pull in all the images from the category, and doing it twice means you'll get duplicates and double tasks for the jury members. The coordinator cannot resolve it if something goes wrong in this part of process and neither can I, which is why in general I am very strict about creating the campaign only after the upload window has closed.
Hi @Ciell, thank you for alerting us to possible inconveniences! Even if you create the campaign between today and tomorrow, we will only create the rounds when the uploads of the event images are completely finished. If not, you can edit the campaign in the top to correct the settings.

Hi @Ciell! The tool didn't present any errors during the event, but as you had already warned us, we didn't have enough time for the judges to be able to do the validations through Montage. Next time, we'll take this into account when thinking about the schedule! You can cancel the campaign whenever you want. We created the rounds, but then deleted them because we had to choose the images differently. Thanks for all your help so far!
