Project update, 7/26

The tech lead/bot operator for the project has retired; recent attempts to find a replacement technical collaborator have thus far not been fruitful.

• I've connected with experienced bot operators - User:Dcoetzee and User:Fæ. I will contact User:Multichill in the next few days.

It would be useful to offer a “smörgåsbord” of interesting records to entice a new tech collaborator.

• I am putting together a list of rights appropriate records. It's slow going and involves a random check of the rights at the item level. Over the next few weeks, I should be able to build up a nice list.
• A better solution is a systematic check of the collections beginning with the smallest and working up. I'll move in this direction.
• The best solution is have an app or programming created that would return results automatically.
• I will discuss this possibility with future tech/bot operators as well.
• The out-of-the-ball-park best solution would be to have the DPLA partners designate, in a more obvious way, rights status to the records as they are ingested. This would be a big win in the name of all things OPEN, too!

It would be useful to have basic templating framework in place ready for use.

• At minimum, an institution template, and a CommonsTemplate:DPLA-cooperation, and licensing information. This weekend, I'll begin to include licensing information at Commons:Digital_Public_Library_of_America#DPLA_Service_Hubs.

Micheal – If you have time, do you mind handling the institution template, and the Template:DPLA-cooperation - similar to {{Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum-cooperation}}? Thanks!

Is this project still active? I was matching Wikidata items to the data providers but I got unsure if it will be used. Please let me know.

A question regarding lack of some files related to the US artillery

When I was creating and filling Category:Military industry in the United States in World War I today, I noticed that there was only one file uploaded from the series named "Ordnance - Test - Bethlehem Steel Company" while there are 18 on the NARA website. What's the reason behind that, is it because the other 17 files were digitized after the DPLA bot uploaded that single file? Ain92 (talk) 13:51, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
