Commons:Wiki Cinta Budaya 2018

Wiki Cinta Budaya 2018 is a photography competition about Indonesian cultures such as dances, music, traditional games, foods, drinks, and many more, which will be done on a period of 30 days on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia Commons is one of Wikimedia Foundation projects, which is a repository website containing photographs, videos, and audios using Creative Commons licenses.

Purpose

This competition aims to increase the number of Indonesian cultural photos that are Creative Commons licensed so that they can be used by anyone. In addition, the photos that have been uploaded are expected to be used to complete the article on the Indonesian Wikipedia as well as the regional languages spoken in Indonesia, such as Aceh, Banjarnese, Banyumasan, Buginese, Hulontalo, Javanese, Melayu, Minangkabau, Sundanese, and Tetum.

Prize

• 1st winner: Canon EOS mirrorless
• 2nd place: Nikon Coolpix compact camera
• 3rd place: Sony Cyber-shot compact camera

The 1st, 2nd, and the 3rd winner will also be awarded a cultural travel package each.

General rules

• There is no age-restriction for participants who join the competition
• Photos submitted to other photography competitions, "whether resulting in a win or loss", are not allowed to be submitted again to the Wiki Cinta Budaya competition

Technical terms of competition

Scoring

• Stage 1: Photographs uploaded by participants to Wikimedia Commons will be screened by the competition committee based on the competition terms.
• Stage 2: Each jury will select the 10 best photographs. There will be 30 photographs in total.
• Stage 3: Each jury will give scores to the photographs. The three photographs with the highest scores will get prizes.

Timeline

• 1–30 September 2018 - Upload period
• 1–10 October 2018 - Photographs screened by the committee
• 1–25 October 2018 - Photographs screened by the jury
• 26 October 2018 - Announcing the winner

Q & A

• Is it permissible to use Photoshop or other photo editing software to edit my photograph before I upload it?

  Yes. You are permitted to do some adjustments by using photo editing software, but are limited to adjusting the brightness, contrast, and color saturation. Avoid changing colors that are too conspicuous. This is a photograph competition, not a digital image editing competition.

• I have a collection of cultural photographs of Indonesia, but I took them outside of the competition period. Are they eligible to join the competition?

  They are eligible. As long as you upload the photographs during the competition period (1–30 September 2018), they are eligible to join.

• Is there any restriction on the number of photographs uploaded?

  No. You may upload as many photographs as you want. However, we advise you to upload the best ones you have.

• Can Directorate General of Culture, Ministry of Education and Culture (Indonesia) and Wikimedia Indonesia staffs join the competition?

  The Directorate General of Culture, Ministry of Education and Culture (Indonesia) and Wikimedia Indonesia staffs are not permitted to join the competition.

How to participate

1. Create an account on Wikimedia Commons or log in by using your existing Wikipedia account.
2. Read the tutorial on how to upload media to Wikimedia Commons.
3. This competition starts on 1 September and ends on 30 September 2018. Photographs uploaded outside of the date will be discarded.
4. Send the links of the photographs you have uploaded to kompetisiwikimedia.or.id with the subject [WCB] - your username. For example, [WCB] - Andi.
