EXIF date not added

[edit]

While uploading this photo, the date was missing and had to be entered manually. I have never had to do that before. UW has always scrapped the date from the EXIF but not this time. Why is UW getting worse, not better? Bidgee (talk) 04:45, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bidgee: Thank you for your report. I have opened a Phabricator ticket about it and I should have made you a subscriber to it. Being a bug, this should be triaged soon, so I hope to let you know as soon as possible about its resolution. --Sannita (WMF) (talk) 10:19, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hint to existing file and filename

[edit]

In the former version of the upload wizard was a hint shown with a link to the existing file if I made a new upload with the same filename. Now I get only the hint. I have to open a new tab of the browser and look for the file by hand. That is slowing down the upload process in these cases. GeorgDerReisende (talk) 14:42, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Link would indeed be very valuable. Special:Upload does this, and I have it happen there about once a week. - Jmabel ! talk 15:53, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Error message at last step without indication where

[edit]

I just uploaded over 20 images, writing all the entries per hand. At the end before publishing I got an error message, but without any indication where. An emotional rollercoaster took place before I found two images with identical names. Do I recall wrong, that errors were once marked in red? It is really hard to find an error in a list that is several monitor heights long. MenkinAlRire (talk) 22:00, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MenkinAlRire Hi, thanks for your message, and I'm sorry for never replying to you before now, but for some reason I never got this notification. Anyway, this is a bug we're working on, but we didn't find a solution yet. Hopefully I will let you know more in the next couple of weeks, I'll try to push a bit harder for its solution. @Sannita (WMF): Nice. Thank you for your answer. (I didn't expect an imidiate answer; I had written on several issues) MenkinAlRire (talk) 11:50, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Similar filenames

[edit]

i dont get it. how was it possible to upload to such similar filenames? RZuo (talk) 16:37, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @RZuo, thanks for your message, and I'm sorry for never replying to you before now, but for some reason I never got this notification. I don't know why UW failed so badly at recognizing the same title. Would you be so kind to open a Phab ticket about it, and link it back to me? I'll pass it on to the devs as soon as I get my eyes on it. Sannita (WMF) (talk) 08:45, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed size of description field

[edit]

When I upload several files, fill in the "description" field and copy it with the copy button to the rest of the files, the "description" fields get a fixed size (for about 2 lines of text) and a scrollbar. It is very annoying, as I usually add some extra info to every file, and now I have to scroll all the "two-line" fields to check and add the text. It looks like it has changed recently, can you remove the fixed size setting? Nova (talk) 11:14, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Nova, thanks for your message. I'll open a Phabricator ticket about it and will let you know. Probably it's going to take some time, though. Sannita (WMF) (talk) 08:47, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
