- Support The depth of field is not as large as what we see usually, but it was here necessary to film in the darkness, and thus decrease the F/value. The specimen measures only 20 mm. The sequences were taken with a macro lens, and a tripod to avoid shaky effects. For me the rarity and the high educational value are worth the feature label. Thanks, Tomer T -- Basile Morin (talk) 01:23, 17 November 2019 (UTC)

The job scheduler doesn't works as intended for ogv files, for anyone who is interested in lower quality transcodes or webm versions, just click on the "Reset transcode" on the file page. -- Eatcha (talk) 13:33, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

- Oppose This is basically raw footage without any explanation of what exactly is being demonstrated here other than "carpentry". The worker's movements do not strike me as those of a professional, especially between 0:24 and 0:33, where he seemingly can't figure out how to open the vise. Maybe he's just nervous because of the camera, but in any case that's something you'd normally cut out. --El Grafo (talk) 15:51, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

Oppose In this form. It's very visible that this has been through Youtube: bad quality even in the highest resolution available (compression artifacts, pixelization). The mp4 version at cdc.gov is much better quality-wise. -- El Grafo (talk) 13:02, 6 November 2019 (UTC)- El Grafo Is there any chance of allowing MP4 files on commons, conversion to webm makes commons deprived of HQ videos? -- Eatcha (talk) 13:07, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- And Should I start a discussion at COM:VP/P -- Eatcha (talk) 13:08, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Eatcha: Don't bother, we had a lengthy Rfc about that in 2014 and it looks like mp4 at Commons is not going to be a thing any time soon. But I think it would be worth a try to take the mp4 source and convert it to something commons-compatible instead of using the file from Youtube. I think I've heard complaints about Youtube applying some rather strong compression, so it may be possible to squeeze a bit more quality out of the source file … --El Grafo (talk) 13:25, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

- Neutral My major concern has been resolved through the new upload, general quality seems fine now – thanks, [User:Eatcha|Eatcha]]! Some of the included video clips are still pretty poor quality though (e.g. at 1:30, 4:17). Also, around 4:45 Mrs. Watters is directly addressing the students this video is targeted at with practical advice while looking somewhere else – not very engaging if you ask me. I know this is often done in documentaries, where the interviewed person is looking at the interviewer instead of the camera. But in my opinion this has been over used in the past and does not really make sense in this situation anyway. That's all not really enough to oppose, though, so I guess I'll stay neutral on this one. --El Grafo (talk) 15:23, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

- Weak support FV for me, but subtitles should be used in a separated subtitle file (like SRT) so that non-German viewers are not confused by this. In general, subtitles that are inside the video can decrease their value. So if they should not be needed in some cases, that might be complicated to remove (for aesthetic reasons) and when they do not contain other languages (like languages that were spoken by the interviewed people for example) -- PantheraLeo1359531 (talk) 19:38, 6 December 2019 (UTC)

- Oppose there are some really cool shots in here, but that's overshadowed by how they've been put together. Some of the transitions use effects that look like they came from PowerPoint. There are sections that are sped up for no apparent reason, disrupting the otherwise nice pace. Movements are sweeping across the scenery smoothly – until interrupted by one of those robotic camera adjustments typical for drones. There's a lot of potential in there, but it needs some more work. --El Grafo (talk) 13:48, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

- Weak support There are some issues with the transitions and the effect of some movements (in addition to a few somewhat awkward movements, also the [drone equivalent of a dolly zoom], which is a little disorienting). But the overall effect more or less works. Style is similar to a travel commercial. Would appreciate some sort of music or other information about what I'm looking at. — Rhododendrites talk | 22:41, 7 December 2019 (UTC)

- Comment suggest to re-name it to something like File:Makeup demonstration - Time Lapse.webm or similar. From a en:Tutorial I would expect some kind of voice-over (or at the very least some text on the screen) that explains what is being done, why it's being done like that, what techiques and materials are being used, etc. Not sure I would support this as a demonstration/time lapse as it looks a bit soft at full screen. But as long as it's being passed of as a tutorial I feel compelled to oppose. Cheers, --El Grafo (talk) 08:52, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
- Personally, I prefer a silent tutorial than one in a specific language (English, Polish, or why not Nepali), since it makes the video more international. Anyway, it seems that the word "tutorial" has now been renamed into "demonstration" -- Basile Morin (talk) 07:50, 26 November 2019 (UTC)

- Weak oppose Willing to be convinced, but to me this style doesn't seem amenable to an educational video. There's insufficient narration/text to explain what's going on, so we just see really fast hands/brushes/whatnot flying by. It's a style I'd expect to see if watching an actor transform for a role, where the "how" isn't as important as the overall effect. — Rhododendrites talk | 22:37, 7 December 2019 (UTC)

- very very weak support Per Rhododendrites, the frame rate is very close to an unrealisitic view, but tolerable. To be honest, also 720p is quite narrow, because it doesn't catch the really natural view of it (compare it to 4K HDR videos, which are really quite similar to reality) --PantheraLeo1359531 (talk) 10:40, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

- @Eatcha: Great that the video has been nominated! The video does not have sound, because it is a demonstration video's of the technique (inner workings) of the instrument, which are used to give big groups of visitors to the sound & listen museum an idea of how it works, while the actual instrument is being played in front of them. I can ask if they would be able to also upload the sounds (if indeed they are copyright free?) for the older instruments, but I doubt this will be possible before the end of the nomination period.
