- Support the trunk is blurry but I guess it's expected to be. Also wondering if this is one of the Oscar-winning elephants?-- UnpetitproleX (Talk) 13:20, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
- @UnpetitproleX This is an adult. Several images of the Oscar winning juveniles, Raghu and Ammu, are here Tagooty (talk) 04:44, 7 May 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose Blurry trunk. --SHB2000 (talk) 22:55, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose Nice capture of an elephant
in a natural environment, but it looks like the shutter speed was not fast enough to freeze the trunk. Probably the combination 1/40 s and F/16 was not the best compromise in this situation. The light is also a bit harsh in my view -- Basile Morin (talk) 00:32, 30 April 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose It looks natural but it is a captive animal. Some of these places are not kind to the animals. Charlesjsharp (talk) 18:27, 30 April 2023 (UTC)
- It is a camp, it is India’s oldest, this one in particular. They are known for rehabilitating orphaned elephants, you may know it from this recent Academy award-winning documentary. I’d say the documentary showed that the elephants were well-cared for. UnpetitproleX (Talk) 00:32, 1 May 2023 (UTC)
- Yes but in zoos too they take care of the animals and sometimes "rehabilitate" orphans :-) Basile Morin (talk) 00:54, 1 May 2023 (UTC)
- Well, it’s not like pictures of captive animals aren’t featured (this, this, or these, for example). As for the camp’s living conditions for the elephants, they are well-documented, especially with it’s new-found fame. UnpetitproleX (Talk) 01:24, 1 May 2023 (UTC)
- Not sure you'll manage to convince Charles by showing him FPs of captive animals It's often a deal breaker in his view.
- I'm personally not as radical as him, but here I agree the camp where the picture was taken drains too many visitors to be considered as a "natural environment".
- Nevertheless, the reason of my negative vote above is the shutter speed, not the park (which even looks nice at first sight). Just compare with action shots taken at fast speed like 1 /1000s, 1 /1000s or 1 /1250s, wow! -- Basile Morin (talk) 02:43, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

- Well noted. Thanks, I've amended my comment. The huge flow of tourists visiting the camp in the video is not so appealing -- Basile Morin (talk) 00:54, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

- Support Yes, if one wanted to freeze the motion the shutter speed of 1/40 s was wrong. However we can also accept that the photographer wanted to show the trunk’s motion; and this is possible by showing it with motion blur. In addition the rather slow shutter speed has also lead to a nice display of the splashed water; with a faster shutter speed it would have been less pronounced. Taking both points together allows us to say that the photographer has taken the settings intentionally and with success. --Aristeas (talk) 08:13, 30 April 2023 (UTC)
- I do think the motion blur beautifully captures the action of the image—which is what sets the image apart from the many FPs of elephants we have on commons—but I do understand not liking it. As for the artistic choices, only @Tagooty: can tell us. UnpetitproleX (Talk) 10:39, 30 April 2023 (UTC)

- Comment I like the elephant and won't base my vote on where the elephant is, but the sky and adjacent areas of vegetation seem overexposed to me. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:09, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

- Weak oppose per Basile and others. I can understand wanting to get the blur on the trunk, but with bright sky in the background that was not the best option. Daniel Case (talk) 19:59, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
