Is Category:Visors (architecture) redundant with Category:Awnings? Themightyquill (talk) 10:38, 3 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Themightyquill: It's not the same thing. A visor ("pala", in Portuguese) is a projected concrete structure that serves as a kind of porch for protection (against meteorological conditions, falling rocks, etc.) It is more related to porches than to awnings.-- Darwin Ahoy! 11:06, 3 February 2020 (UTC)
- @DarwIn: It needs to be concrete? Awnings currently includes permanent structures that serve as protection, not just cloth awnings. -- Themightyquill (talk) 14:10, 3 February 2020 (UTC)
- @DarwIn and Themightyquill: If "visor" is distinctly defined as concrete overhangs/porches, it should still be a sub of Category:Awnings, as awnings are not material-specific. Josh (talk) 19:17, 3 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Joshbaumgartner and Themightyquill: The category is for those structures, generally in concrete, that stand fixed on one side and act as a kind of porch/protection against sunlight, meteo elements, falling rocks, etc. They started being common with modernist architecture, and continue till today. I am not an English native speaker, so if you say it is a subcategory of awnings, I believe you. :) -- Darwin Ahoy! 20:02, 10 February 2020 (UTC)
