The painter of these costume designs in the Moscow Bakhrushin Theatre Museum is very probably w:de:Marianne Kürzinger (Kirzinger), born in 1766 or 1767 (not 1770) in Munich (depending on which book you consult), deceased in 1809 in Munich. She is known to have painted designs for theatre costumes; the Deutsches Theatermuseum in Munich has such designs in its collections:

Manfred Knedlik: „... mit einer Art von Leidenschaft geliebt“ – Theater in Altbayern, Franken und Schwaben in der Frühen Neuzeit (= Hefte zur Bayerischen Geschichte und Kultur, vol. 33). Haus der Bayerischen Geschichte, Augsburg 2005, illustration on page 55.

The Bakhrushin Museum gives her birth date as “1730”. That seems to be a confusion with her father, Franz Seraph Kirzinger (b. 1730 or ca. 1728, d. 1811), who was a painter himself and Marianne’s first teacher.

Therefore, I made Category:Stage costumes by Marianne Kirzinger a subcategory of Category:Marianne Kürzinger. -- Martinus KE (talk) 10:43, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
