Is this category for female humans (for which there is no English word that I'm aware of) or females or any (sexual) species? Richard001 (talk) 01:40, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

@Richard001 This category is for female organisms of all species. Category:Female humans is the sub-category expressly for human beings who are female. Josh (talk) 03:57, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Females vs Women

[edit]

The question above and at talk Women are all pointing to the same point of confusion for some of us. What it the difference between this category "Female" and "Women"? Yes there is one, but some of us aren’t sure what that is, so both cats need a clarification of some kind. Is it age, species, or other? Often the two categories are used interchangeable. Some even overlap back and forth like Category:Walking females and Category:Walking women are both listed under Category:Women by posture. We need to come to some kind of consensus as to how to determine when an image goes in on vs. another. - ARTEST4ECHO (talk) 12:47, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Female = Women + girls + adolescent girls. So it depends of what we have or expect in each category. --TwoWings * to talk or not to talk... 14:07, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
@ARTEST4ECHO, @TwoWings: For clarification:

I just changed category's main topic (P301) from female (Q6581072) to female organism (Q43445) in Category:Females (Q7464256) to correct the infobox in this category. Maybe that has been causing some confusion? Sinigh (talk) 20:45, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The edit was reverted, so now the wrong infobox is back. Sinigh (talk) 20:29, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
