The category "Eriocnemis aline" is the scientific correct one, the category "Eriocnemis alinae" is wrong. So E. aline should be deleted, E.alinae should be renamed E. aline and a new category redirect from alinae to aline should be done. Why? See Category:Eriocnemis alinae Discussion. According to IOC this is correct, therefore simply correct it. For birds we follow IOC. Category names are sometimes not changed because there is no one who has the time to do all the work. Kersti (talk) 06:46, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Either I am too stupid to do it or I lack the necessary rights to do so. I could not rename alinae - because aline is already existing. I can not delete aline - I am no admin. I tried to rename aline and alinae - this worked - to make room to rename alinae to aline - but it repeated that this is impossible because aline and alinae are nevertheless already existing. I tried to undo the changes I made - impossible because "somebody already tried to undo this". Sorry for creating more problems - but I simply have no idea how to make this work. By the way: I guessed it would be some extra work, that was why I was so angry about the wrong decision what name to choose and what name to rediredt in the first place. In short: Kersti, I need your help, please!Andreas von Stackelberg (talk) 22:52, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ha! Finally I managed it - thx for a hidden help I did not find by whom (deletion of a category). ✓ DoneAndreas von Stackelberg (talk) 21:14, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

it seems that problem is solved. Category:Eriocnemis alinae is a redirect. Before closing this CFD please delete temporary Category:Eriocnemis aline is correct--Estopedist1 (talk) 16:35, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Question: If there are two possibilities (aline vs alinae) there has to be a scientific method how to decide between wrong and false. And, oh wonder, there is: You could ask competent sources or try to find the first description.

First description is here: http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/item/51063#page/385/mode/1up

Sources are - for example - here:

https://avibase.bsc-eoc.org/species.jsp?avibaseid=39F4DE42721BFDAC

So why is the category called Eriocnemis alinae?Andreas von Stackelberg (talk) 02:25, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Problem solved. This page was an attempt to make room for the switch of the two Categories "Eriocnemis alinae" (the name is not correct according to the IOC) and "Eriocnemis aline" (the correct name). Meanwhile I found a different solution to do the switch - and this empty category is not needed any longer. Thx!Andreas von Stackelberg (talk) 21:11, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
