The Traveller's Rest, on the corner of Rowson Street and Marine parade, New Brighton, managed to survive being bombed in the blitz of 8th May 1941. In the 60s it was a well-known pick up place, and in recent years was split front and back, the front becoming an Irish theme bar and the back remaining much the same as ever. Previous management form went into receivership, and as of August 2016 it appears to be very much closed and boarded up.
