The Renosterveld Shrubland Ecoregion is a designated ecoregion by One Earth. It is classified as a Mediterranean Forests, Woodlands & Scrub Biome. It is one of five ecoregions in the South African Cape Shrublands & Mountain Forests Bioregion.
It is differentiated from the Fynbos Shrubland Ecoregion in that it receives less rainfall (approximately 250-600 mm per year); comparatively the Fynbos Shrubland ecoregion generally receives around 650-2000 mm per year. In addition to this, the Renosterveld Shrubland Ecoregion is replaced by the Succulent Karoo Xeric Shrublands Ecoregion in areas where rainfall is less than 250 mm per year.
