Major John Potts (1795 – 24 April 1870) was a coal-mine owner, of Benton Park Northumberland, a Justice of the Peace, and an officer of the Northumberland Militia for fifty years {Source) . His wife was Sarah Anne Potts nee Henderson (1893 – 14 August 1867) a member of Clan Handerson.
