When photographed on 2 January 2023, the inscription was partly covered with ivy, but when re-photographed on 4 March 2023, some ivy had been removed. The visible inscription is as follows:

• To the beloved memory of Alice Jane Potts, second daughter of the late Major John Pots of Benton Park Northumberland, born at Wallsend 8th March 1830, died at Harrogate 2nd February 1889.
• Frank Banner Potts, youngest son of the late Major John Potts, born at Wallsend 16th July 1833, died in London 4th May 1891.
• Frances Banner Potts, youngest daughter of the late Major John Potts, born at Wallsend 14th September 1831, died at Harrogate 8th March 1897.

The mother of the abovenamed children, and the wife of Major John Potts, was Sarah Anne Potts nee Henderson, which explains the Clan Henderson badge and motto carved at the top of the monument.

To put the above gravestone into context: Some of the rest of the family are memorialised on an interior wall monument in St Peter's Church, Wallsend, Northumberland (Source) . They are:

• Major John Potts JP (1795 – 24 April 1870). Major John Potts was a coal mine owner, and "Justice of the Peace for the county of Northumberland, and for a period of 50 years an officer in the Northumberland Militia, died in London".
• Sarah Anne Potts nee Henderson (1893 – 14 August 1867) wife of Maj John Potts, died in London.
• Edward Henderson (1743 – 18 April 1826) of Newton-by-the-Sea, father-in-law of Maj John Potts, died at Wallsend
• Edward Potts (1824–1883) son of John Potts
• William John Potts (1828–1893) son of Maj John Potts
• John Potts son of Maj John Potts
