English: The Green River Formation is an Eocene geologic formation that records the sedimentation in a series of intermontane lakes.
- It is located in the U.S. states of Wyoming, Colorado and Utah.
- The formation is best known for its exceptional well preserved fossils which make it to one of the most important lagerstätte of the world.
- Major oil shale deposits occur in the formation.
- It is also the type locality for seven rare evaporite minerals.
