Built in 1230 by the Ayyubid ruler al-Aziz this palace east of the entrance has been destroyed extensivelt by the Mongols. It has a series of small courtyards, the first with four iwans on all sides. The entrance is striking with its striped limestone and basalt and fine muqarnas. The palace hammam dates from 1367 and has been restored.
