Categories[edit]

Hi, thanks for info. I will do the categories later as I am uploading all the images one by one and linking them into Wikipedia. The Categories are different in both projects and I will deal with that later. Don't worry, soon I will add categories to all my uploaded images. --Zureks 20:54, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lovely, seems as you're uploading nice pictures. Yuval Y § Chat § 21:01, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit]

The licenses are the same, CC-By-3.0, or CC-by-2.5. What happens is that I did the two by mistakes in a couple of them but I am fixing give sometiem, thank you for you concern and support. Greetings -JohnManuel 21:59, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that you were using cc-by-3.0 and cc-by-sa-3.0 which puzzled me a bit... Yuval Y § Chat § 13:56, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To link images[edit]

Isn't it ok like that? I usually upload some images and then I go on introducing them in an appropriate place. Would you mind tell me if there is any problem in that way? MM 21:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's the main idea, but I also suggest you to use categories, so each picture would be set to its place immediately. Yuval Y § Chat § 21:10, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Queen of Sheba visits Solomon.jpg[edit]

Hello. Artist en:Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld died in 1872. His published work is in the public domain, as are mechanical reproductions of his public domain 2 dimensional works. The website therefore has no ownership nor legal claim to restrict usage of von Carolsfeld's art. I have therefore removed your copyright violation note on Image:Queen of Sheba visits Solomon.jpg. Thank you, however, for your vigilance. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 23:31, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've tagged the image as {{Pd-art}}, but I'm still hasitating - the website said "These woodcut illustrations by Julius Schnoor von Carolsfeld were originally printed in “Das Buch der Bücher in Bilden.” They were scanned by Publications for Latin America, WELS." so it seems that the site have the copyrights for the scanned image. If you find the book and scan it yourself, you have the copyright...
Yuval Y § Chat § 17:02, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I believe it is well established in copyright law (and recognized in practice on Commons) that if published material has fallen into the public domain, one cannot create a new copyright with non-creative mechanical reproduction of the 2 dimensional public domain work. Ask on Commons talk:Licensing or somewhere similarly relevent if you wish. This is exactly the case for the claim above; such simple mechanical scans of public domain material remain in the public domain. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 17:54, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't make the rules, check Commons:Licensing for information. Yuval Y § Chat § 18:02, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agree completely. Discuss there. -- Infrogmation 18:03, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have started discussion on your question at Commons_talk:Licensing#Mechanical_scans_of_public_domain_works_not_copyrightable. Please add comments/clarifications/concerns there as appropriate. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 18:09, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm writing to you because of these images. Last time I've upload the original versions. I've only resized them, they were really huge. Anyway I'm gonna upload them again. Don't worry they're authentic. --Baku 12:16, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have writed this on my talk page. What is the meaning? haabet 08:07, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Missing details, as you can see now in your talk page. Yuval Y § Chat § 11:51, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yuval. I see you talked with this user some hours ago. He went on today uploading pictures under PD-self, without any description. I reported the case on Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems‎ but did not take any action because of the language barrier. Can you please talk with him once more? Jastrow (Λέγετε) 17:16, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When I talked with him, he claimed that he's the group owner's son, and he owns the copyrights. I told him right now, that he'd better upload the pictures to the hebrew wikipedia, since it seems he doesn't know english... Yuval Y § Chat § 18:25, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion warning Image:1247963227 d50a97408f.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Hi! I removed the copyvio tag at the image. The copyright notice is about the whole page... but as you can see, the image itself is tagged with "Attribution-ShareAlike" license. As you can see in Commons:Deletion_requests/Image:ESC_2007_Serbia_-_Marija_Serifovic_-_Molitva.jpg taken from the same webpage, the images are totally free for Wikimedia Commons. --B1mbo 21:34, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake, I haven't noticed the cc-by license there... I guess we could upload some other images from that source, quite like flickr, then...? Yuval Y § Chat § 22:18, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Ben Heine.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-3.0}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Image:Pelean Eruption-fr.svg[edit]

Hello,

You ask a question about this image : «how about numbers instead of labels?»
Answer : I will to do both, but I finish all the series before.

Sémhur 09:44, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seems as you're doing a great job, I like your draws. As for the translation, it shouldn't be difficult, you just write/draw numbers instead of the text. Yuval Y § Chat § 16:05, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So, I've finished the job, you can use it now. You can add descriptions in hebrew in the pages (schemes with numbers).
If you see some things wrong, or things that I should improve, talk it to me. If you want some image or photograph improvements, ask to the Commons Graphic Lab or one of the others (I'm from the french Atelier graphique). Sémhur 18:39, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uhm, I've only uploaded an image with an higher resolution but, without this, it's the same as the previous image. I've done so because on it.wikipedia there was the same image and I wanted to delete it as "nowcommons". I don't see the problem, bye --Filnik 12:56, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

where I'm I supposed to write down the details? In the description? and what kind of category should I make? (sorry, I kinda new to this) Frizabela 13:19, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

restoring some deleted images[edit]

Hi Yuval,

Some of the pictures I uploaded were speedly deleted while I was away (you can see them on my talk page). Can you please restore their descriptions to my user page, so I can start looking up their exact sources and obtain the proper permissions? Thanks in advance, Eranb 18:13, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

אהלן יובל! לא הבנתי מה הבעיה בתמונה הזאת. אני צילמתי את התמונה, ומשחרר אותה לרשות הציבור.

תודה, Doronef 10:39, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yuval Y § Chat § 13:13, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there[edit]

Don't worry, I won't upload any pictures anymore. I give up. I was just trying to became my articles rich and full of great photos. I'm sorry, I don't know much about "PT Wikipedia", "where I can use few pictures as Fair use, which is not allowed in Commons". The photos I've been uploaded are from my personal collection, I don't know anything about the authors or copyright rights. Feel free to delete all my pictures. I'm sorry.

I'm almost giving up writing on PT Wikipedia too, because there is too much vandalism on my articles or other articles. Are you able to block the editing page for any users? Can you creat a kind of restrict access that allows only me and/or a few persons to edit my articles about "Kurt Cobain", "Krist Novoselic" and "Nirvana (band)" (the portuguese versions, I mean)? I was the author of those and other articles, and I can say they're the best versions and they're absolutely great and serious. I spent a great time writing and I had a lot of hard word. I'm continuing working on the article about Kurt, it's not finished yet. Thank you and goodbye.--EXcer 17:02, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
