Bonjour Yann,

Vous m'avez envoyé un message à l'effet que l'image File:Squatec3.JPG était sans permission... J'essais de contribuer comme je peux dans commons, mais je ne comprend pas toujours tout. Dans le cas de cette image, comme dans le cas de toutes les images que j'ai téléghargé dans Commons, il s'agit d'une photo personnelle. Je l'ai prise moi-même du haut des air, à bord du petit avion d'un ami. Que dois-je faire exactement pour régulariser le statut de cette photo et éviter qu'elle soit éliminée ?

Nicogag (en passant, je ne sais même pas comment laisser ma signature au bas d'un message, ce qui montre bien à quel point je ne maîtrise pas cet environnement).

Je l'ai prise moi-même du haut des air, avec mon propre appareil photo, à bord du petit avion d'un ami (on a d'ailleur survolé la plupart des villages du Témiscouata lors de cette journée - ce qui explique que j'ai plusieurs photos de ce type dans Commons)

Athletes from Switzerland[edit]

Dear Yann, Could you help me solve a problem that I have created? Today I started a new category Athletes from Switzerland with the intention that this new cat would be included in the list: Athletes by country. However, it didn't. It was placed in a separate undercategory and I don't understand why this has happened. Would you be so kind and correct this for me? By the way, in this list: Athletes by country there is one that is incorrect: Athletes from Kenia. Since this contains no images, I would suggest to remove it. Could you do this too? Deletion requests[edit]

Hi, I see you've removed my speedy tag of an image of mine. While they are not the same files, the one does indeed supersede the other. One is an FP at en:wiki and the other (the original) is redundant. I'd prefer not to have multiple versions of the same images of mine on Commons. On that note, I have a few redundant images that I'd like deleted.

Admittedly, this is not my photo, but is still redundant and just wasting space.

Je ne comprends pas. Pour prendre un exemple au hasard parmi des milliers d'autres, est-ce à dire que des images telles que File:Harry S Truman, bw half-length photo portrait, facing front, 1945.jpg doivent toutes être virées quand bien même elles portent la mention "No known restrictions on publication" ? - Mu (talk) 10:14, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Il me semble qu'il y a déjà eu des discussions à ce sujet sur Commons, desquelles il ressortait que la LOC, avant de mettre la mention "No copyright renewal", faisait des recherches sérieuses à ce sujet auprès du US Copyright Office ou d'un organisme de ce genre. Salut, Effectivement la photo ainsi corrigée a des couleurs beaucoup plus réelles. Merci pour cette correction. Je vais discuter avec le projet Transport en Île de France de la possibilité de présenter une ou plusieurs des photos que tu mentionnes au label image de qualité, en tout les cas merci pour ton appréciation positive de mes clichés, cela m'encourage à continuer Clin. En ce qui concerne une photo comme image de valeur, c'est effectivement une bonne idée, mais comme tu le précises je ne pense pas que nous ayions pour l'instant de photo représentative qui mérite ce label. Nous allons essayer d'en faire une dans un proche avenir, même si les conditions de prise de vue dans le métro parisien ne facilitent pas cette tâche. Deleted files from the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO article[edit]

Hello, Yann.

Some days ago you've deleted some images from Wikimedia Commons (File:Iab.jpg, File:Vardanyan.jpg, File:Skolkovo_Executive_Education_-_Business_in_Russia.jpg, File:Exed.jpg, File:Vardanyan.jpg, File:Campus-general.jpg, File:Volkov.jpg, File:Campus-SKOLKOVO.jpg, File:SKOLKOVO_Logo_en.jpg, File:Books-eng.jpg) by reason "Missing essential information: source, license and/or permission".

But on December 17, 2008 the copyright holder of this images, Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO (http://www.skolkovo.ru) has sent requested permissions to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org and agreed to publish this works under the free license GFDL. I believe, that permissions have been verified and archived in the Wikimedia OTRS system (it must be, 'cause in the same letter SKOLKOVO gave permissions to use some other files, and now these images have OTRS Tickets on their pages).

Anyway, even if this information somehow has been lost by mistake, I want to ask you, please, next time at least give me notice that you're going to delete my images, consider the fact that you've deleted not one, but ten my files. :)

If I'm wrong and you have some other problems with my files (not permission or licensing), please, let me know and I'll try to resolve them as soon as I can.

Category:Protests against nuclear power[edit]

Hello Yann

The category was NOT deleted, it was renamed (from "...nuclear technology" to "...nuclear power"). Mainly because of two reasons - a) there is a difference between protests against nuclear weapons and nuclear power plants, but this category was ambigious, and b) because the parent cat was called "nuclear power" and the subcategories also pointed at nuclear powerplant protests (the one cat that was actually a anti-nuclear weapons one I moved to a more specific category now, at Category:Protests against nuclear weapons and provided "see also's" so users can see the parallel cat.

Images from film[edit]

Hi. I saw a couple of images from film you had problems with on carol's talk page and was wondering if you got anywhere with them? They look to me like they have been post-processed after coming from the film, in particular they look like they have been over sharpened and/or saved as too-much-compressed jpg. Is that how you got the images from the guy who scanned them? If the slides really have those problems then they should be quite visible with a magnifying glass or a slide projector, but the artifacts look much more digital than the graininess (or worse degradation) that you would see on old slides. Why should Escudounsa.gif be deleted? This image is the logo of the Universidad Nacional de Salta (Spanish: National University of Salta), which is an institution belonging to the Argentine Government.

I would have GLADLY labeled it as a "Argentine government logo" or some similar category. But, unfortunately, Wikipedia commons does not have such categories. --AndeanThunder (talk) 20:42, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Of course I did not create this logo. If I had intended to upload something which I did not create myself, I would not have stated it in the image description. Two further reasons not to delete this image: 1. Osvaldo Juane, the author of the logo, died in 1988. You can read it in the following page (in Spanish) Camara de Diputados de Salta 2. This image was created in 1974, and therefore, according to Argentine law, its copyright has expired. You can find a further example in the license of the following image: File:José López Rega.jpeg

Thank you for writting to me regarding File:Whiskeredtern1winter.jpg. The original file was at EN:WIKIPEDIA. I have moved it to Wiki common as it was originally tag as {{GDLF}} with link to original image. However, it seems that the image in English Wiki have been deleted since it is already in commons. I recommend you contacted SYSOP in English Wiki to restore the images to recover the original licensing information, as I did not include the original loader information at that time thinking it's already exist in EN WIKI. So you say that the uploader took a few colours and started to draw the image himself? What kind of nonsense is that? The proper sources are not necessary-show? Or the I'm not interested in providing a real source, but that does not matter at all-show? This is the quality of the project you are undermine by allowing people to give no source at all (and this kind of source is no source). And just an extra question: Each time I observe you doing this kind of quality is not important-stuff (be it no source or applying the non-existing pd-100-rule on Commons), it concerns French uploaders. Please help me correct tilt[edit]

Thanks for commenting on my image Image:Caneel Bay Turtle Bay Beach 4.jpg. The perception of tilting I think is due to an illusion caused by the the shoreline. I had similar problem with this image File:Caneel_Bay_Sunset_at_Scott_Beach_1.jpg#filehistory. See how I tried several times to correct perceived tilting. In the end, I settled for not-quite-straight horizon line which to my eyes balanced the image.

In which direction would you suggest that I tilt Image:Caneel Bay Turtle Bay Beach 4.jpg? I will give it a try, but I am not sure it will actually look right...

I'm confused over the tag you placed on this page. The author said it was their own work, and released it into the public domain. Why then did you tag it as lacking permission? I have no connection with the author, but upload many of my own photos under similar terms.
