Category discussion warning

Todesrune has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Lugers

Hi, you know, that "Lugers from Germany" are luge athletes, not weapons? -- Marcus Cyron (talk) 21:55, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for noticing me. So good we can help each other! I tagged the images with this category without checking. I will try to pick the correct one from now on (not category:Lugers but Category:Parabellum pistol).-- Wolfmann (talk) 22:07, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
Pay attention to copyright
File:Jersey 2007 - 116 - St Helier - city -Jersey war tunnels, WW2 German underground hospital. Info, chart, map, plan.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

  • This file is a copyright violation for the following reason: This is a derivative work - a photograph that the Flickr user has taken of a map that is on display at the Jersey War Tunnels. In the UK, COM:FOP UK does not apply to graphic works. Jersey is not part of the UK but it is likely that the same principle applies.
Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Your uniform images

Hello Wolfmann, I wanted to thank you for the great job you did with - well, a lot of pictures, but especially with the one on which I performed the following derivative crop: File:German SS uniform. Peaked visor cap with skull emblem (Totenkopf). Norwegian Armed Forces Museum (Forsvarsmuseet) Oslo, Norway 2019-03-31 DSC01646 (cropped).jpg. Besides, I learnt how to include other images in a Commons page, which I searched for recently. Best Regards, Pittigrilli (talk) 10:55, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your inspiring comment! ❤️ --Wolfmann (talk) 11:41, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Identifying people from Third Reich

Hi Wolfmann , i see you categorizing lots of photos of this area. Thank you for it. Not long ago i found an interesting picture of Weimar (File:Wilhelm Walther, WW, 20.4., Elephant, 1-079-080-7794.tif) from 1938. I suspect that since this was made during the topping out of one of the most modern hotels that time (Elephant) there should be some higher-ranked people from the Third Reich on the photo. Maybe you could recognize them? Or do you know where i could find help for such a task? Thank you in advance, --Arnd (talk) 10:28, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi! Unfortunately, I can not help you. When I try to find information, I search the web for documents and photos taken on the same occations as in the photos I am interested in. Some of these photos have names and other information that I can piece together to make a better understanding of the motif in a photo. I have mostly named German officers and officials on duty in Norway during World War II. I'm not sure how to identify the people in your photos, but there must be groups on Facebook or in other forums open for members with a special interest in this historical period, important German officials etc.? Here in Norway there are groups for photographs from the war and military history. -- Wolfmann (talk) 06:29, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

Sutton Hoo?

I do not believe [1] and [2] are correct. The museum made no claim that this was specifically a replica of the Sutton Hoo helmet, and while there is a resemblance, there seem to be significant differences as well. - Jmabel ! talk 15:28, 10 July 2021 (UTC)

Mølje

Hallo Wolfmann. I am using one of your photos to illustrate the article about mølje which I am writing on pl.wp. [3]. I tried to find the picture of mølje on Commons, but without success. Do you maybe have an old picture of the dish in your collection or could it be possible for you to make a picture when the season comes? If yes, then please, but if it is impossible or difficult, please don't bother about my question/request. Hortensja Bukietowa (talk) 19:38, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
