Tip: Categorizing images
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]][[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Die kleinen roten Ausrufezeichen
Servus Vuxi!
Sicherlich kennst du die "Sichter"-Einstellung in der deutschsprachigen Wikipedia. Ähnliches gibt es auch hier auf Commons. Vielleicht sind dir in deiner Beobachtungsliste bereits die kleinen roten Ausrufezeichen aufgefallen. Diese symbolisieren, dass eine Datei von einem User bearbeitet wurde, der nicht über die "patroller/autopatroller"-Rechte (so nennt sich das auf Commons) verfügt - so auch bei dir. Da ich den Eindruck habe, dass du ein verlässlicher und gewissenhafter Benutzer bist, war ich so frei, dir die "autopatroller"-Rechte freizuschalten (normalerweise erfolgt dies auf Anfrage und Prüfung etc. ... typsche Wiki-Bürokratie). Viel Spaß beim weiteren Bearbeiten und Editieren! Bei Fragen kannst du dich an mich wenden. Pontebbana railway
Hello Vuxi I am an italian user and I saw on the italian voice of the Pontebbana railway your picture. Well done! I would be very glad if you told me how you made it. Did you start on the relief map and then superimposed the route of the railway? I noticed that this route is wrong on openstreetmap, so I guess you used another one. In the picture there is a wrong name, "Santa Catarina" instead of "Santa Caterina". I don't know how hard it can be to change it, so do it if it is possible and easy, otherwise it doesn't matter.
Another important thing: I would like to translate the map into italian. I thought a good idea to use the first version of the map loaded on commons. I need your help in deleting the flags of the countries: or can I just take a snapshot on maps-for-free, copy and paste it on the flags?

- The map is made by copying the traffic infrastructure from Openstreetmap. I just corrected the railway tunnels with the help of some other users I can´t remember. The relief is fitted on the back of this. The prgram I used was it:inkscape so I have a vector graphic of the drawing, that can changed without problems. The files uploaded here are just exported versions of this file. The only thing I need to translate the map is someone speaking italian. -- Vuxi (talk) 19:16, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Hello I am very sorry I didn't reply you sooner than now. If I understood right, can I just give you the translation into italian of the texts? If so, I give you them here following. If not, feel free to tell me what I can do to help you.
The towns are the same. Please translate "bis xxxx" with "fino al xxxx" The countries: Austria, Slovenia and Italia. The present railway: "tracciato attuale con tunnel". The past railway: "tracciato in disuso (solo brevi tunnel)". The motorway: "autostrada A23 con tunnel".

- Thank you! If I can say, two little things should be corrected. The first: Slovenia and not Slowenia. The second: in the indications, could you change "tracciato attuale con tunnel" with "tracciato attuale e tunnel", and the same "A23 con tunnel" with "A23 e tunnel". Mittlere-Isar-Kanal
Hallo, Vuxi, Dank für die Geocodes auf den zwei Bildern im Mittleren-Isar-Kanal. Beim upload war der CommonsComputer nicht mit meinen Erstlingsversuchen zufrieden, deshalb wollte ich es heute nachholen. Bei deWP und enWP hatte ich damit keine Probleme. Die in Commons:Geocoding vorgeschlagenen Methoden finde ich etwas mühsam, wenn man versuchen muss, die ganze Karte unter das Fadenkreuz zu schieben, statt wie bei den anderen den Marker zu dem Ort auf der Karte zu ziehen. Gibt es da was einfacheres? Welche Methode verwendest Du dabei? Mit Dank im Voraus für Hinweise. Gruß --AHert (talk) 15:01, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
- Ich verwende diese Seite. Mit STR-Klick den Kameraort und mit Shift-Klick die Richtung markieren. Links in der Liste kann man dann auswählen was man für ein Format will. Ich verwende das unterste. Dann kommt eine Vorlage zum kopieren. Das ganze macht natürlich nur Sinn wenn man den Kameraort kennt. Aber bei selbstgemachten Photos sollte das nicht das Problem sein. -- Vuxi (talk) 15:18, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Nymphenburger Kanal
Weil Du schon die Wasserstraße korrigiert hast: mich stört die Category:Nymphenburg Channel sehr. Ein Channel ist ein Meereskanal, Kanäle auf dem Land sind, so wie ich es gelernt habe, immer Canals (vgl. Category:Canals in England). Ich würde die 22 Bilder sogar von Hand ändern in Category:Nymphenburger Kanal oder meinetwegen auch Nymphenburg Canal. Aber vielleicht kennst Du eine bessere Methode? - Nein ich habe keine andere Methode als es per Hand zu ändern. Ich verwende dazu allerdings Hot-Cat. Das kannst du in den Einstellungen unter Helferlein->Kategoriehelferlein aktivieren. Eines drüber ist noch Cat-a-lot, was ich aber persönlich nicht kenne. Das scheint aber mehrere Dateien auf einmal verschieben zu können.-- Vuxi (talk) 16:10, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Bild drehen
Hallo Vuxi, kürzlich hast Du Drehungen um 180° für die Dateien:
gefordert. Die Vorschaubilder, die MediaWiki generiert hat waren jedoch vorher korrekt. Nur die volle Auflösung war um 180° gedreht. In diesem Fall bitte ich Dich in Zukunft eine Drehung um 0° zu fordern. Das erledigt auch der Bot. Die 0 schreibst Du dazu einfach ins kleine Textfeld. Dann stimmt auch das Vorschaubild, auf das Du immer achten solltest bevor Du die Drehung beauftragst. Wenn Du weitere Informationen benötigst, kannst Du Commons:Rotation/de lesen. - Ich sehe keinen Grund das Bild zu löschen. Es wurde von mir auf einem öffentlich zugänglichen Gelände aufgenommen. Daher ist das Bild meiner Meinung nach durch die Panoramafreiheit abgedeckt. Kurz gesagt. Wer im öffentlichen Raum Kunstwerke aufstellt, muss damit leben, dass sie photographiert werden. Hallo, deine Karte [1] ist "leider" seit gestern inaktuell, seitdem fahren wieder reguläre Personenzüge zwischen Senden und Weißenhorn. Siehst Du dich in der Lage, sie zu aktualisieren? Das wäre super! Aber achtung, die früheren Haltepunkte sind nicht mehr aktuell, beide liegen inzwischen an etwas anderen Standorten, zusätzlich gibt es neuen Hp. in Weißenhorn-Eschach. Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

The 2013 Picture of the Year competition has ended and we are pleased to announce the results: We shattered participation records this year — more people voted in Picture of the Year 2013 than ever before. In both rounds, 4070 different people voted for their favorite images. Additionally, there were more image candidates (featured pictures) in the contest than ever before (962 images total).
- In the first round, 2852 people voted for all 962 files
- In the second round, 2919 people voted for the 50 finalists (the top 30 overall and top 2 in each category)
We congratulate the winners of the contest and thank them for creating these beautiful images and sharing them as freely licensed content:
- 157 people voted for the winner, an image of a lightbulb with the tungsten filament smoking and burning.
- In second place, 155 people voted for an image of "Sviati Hory" (Holy Mountains) National Park in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.
- In third place, 131 people voted for an image of a swallow flying and drinking.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 startet in Kürze
Hallo Vuxi,
in Kürze ist es wieder soweit. Der nun schon traditionelle Fotowettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments wird im September zum vierten Mal stattfinden. In ähnlicher Form hatte unlängst der Wettbewerb "Wiki Loves Earth" eine erfolgreiche Premiere. Zu allen bisherigen vier Wettbewerben haben seit 2011 gut 3000 unterschiedliche Teilnehmer (User) ihren Beitrag geleistet. Du warst dabei, und bist auch herzlich eingeladen, am bevorstehenden WLM-Wettbewerb wieder dabei zu sein.
Allein in Deutschland wurden in den letzten drei Jahren im Rahmen von WLM rund 100.000 Fotos zu den insgesamt ca. 850.000 Kulturdenkmalen bundesweit hochgeladen. Jährlich haben sich mehrere Hundert Wiki-Fotographen daran beteiligt. Auch im kommenden Denkmalmonat wird dies gewiss wieder der Fall sein. Der Tag des offenen Denkmals am 14. September bietet bundesweit vielfältige Möglichkeiten, Denkmale nicht nur von außen, sondern auch von innen zu fotografieren. Denkmallisten sind dabei ein wichtiger Orientierungspunkt und zugleich auch Ziel der Einbindung der Fotos. Auch in diesem Jahr sind wieder neue Denkmallisten hinzugekommen, die hilfreich bei der Planung von individuellen oder Gruppen-Fototouren sind und auf eine Bebilderung warten, wie z.B. zu Görlitz oder Zittau. Unter den Landeshauptstädten fehlt nur noch Stuttgart. Aber auch hier ist Licht in Sicht.
In der Mitte Deutschlands hat die Denkmallandschaft der thüringischen Landeshauptstadt Erfurt nun das Licht der Wikipedia-Welt entdeckt. Mehr als 50 Tabellen enthalten 3.700 Denkmale. Allein die wunderschön restaurierte Altstadt umfasst 1.800 Denkmale. Eine von WMDE geförderte WLM-Fototour nach Erfurt am Wochenende vom 29. – 31. August lädt herzlich ein, diese einzigartige Kulturlandschaft zu dokumentieren. Mehr Informationen findest Du auf der Projektseite.

Der WLM-Countdown hat begonnen
Hallo Vuxi,
nun ist es wieder soweit. Vom 1. bis zum 30. September findet zum fünften Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments statt. Im Mittelpunkt steht bekanntlich das Fotografieren von Kulturdenkmalen. Du hast an einem der letzten Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen und wir freuen uns auf weitere Bildbeiträge von Dir.
Viele interessante Motive, nicht nur Burgen und Schlösser, sondern auch Fachwerkhäuser, Brücken und Brunnen, technische und Industriedenkmale und vieles mehr gibt es noch zu fotografieren, damit sie in der Wikipedia dokumentiert werden können. Nützliche Tipps findest du auf unserer WLM-Projektseite. Du kannst gerne individuell Fototouren durchführen oder aber Dich auch Gruppentouren anschließen. Besonders freuen wir uns auf Fotos, die Lücken in den Denkmallisten der Wikipedia ausfüllen.
Darüber hinaus kannst Du auch an der Arbeit der Jury teilnehmen, die Mitte Oktober die Fotos bewerten und die Gewinner ermitteln wird. Bis zum 15. August kannst du hier Deine Bewerbung einreichen.

OSM-Datenlizenz
Hallo, du schreibst alle OSM-Daten stünden unter CC BY SA. Das stimmt aber nicht, siehe http://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright . Die Daten die nach dem Lizenzwechsel bei OSM erhoben wurden, stehen unter ODbL. --Tbhgeo (talk) 07:59, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Auch in diesem Jahr beteiligt sich Deutschland wieder am internationalen Fotowettbewerb rund um Bau- und Kulturdenkmale. Bisher wurden bereits mehr als 18.000 Bilder hochgeladen – und wir würden uns sehr über weitere Bilder von Dir freuen. Noch bis zum 30. September 2016 kannst Du Deine Bilder hochladen. Alles Wissenswerte erfährst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.
Außerdem möchten wir Dich einladen, ab 12. September 2016 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Diese sichtet und bewertet die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelt so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die im Oktober tagt, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in Deutschland.

Das Organisationsteam freut sich über 38.988 Bilder von deutschen Bau- und Kulturdenkmalen, die in diesem Jahr hochgeladen wurden, und möchte sich ganz herzlich bei Dir für deinen Beitrag zum weltweit größten, von Ehrenamtlichen organisierten, Fotowettbewerb bedanken!
Du hast noch bis zum 18. Oktober die Gelegenheit Wettbewerbsbeiträge anderer Fotografen im Rahmen der Vorjury zu bewerten. Wir würden uns freuen, wenn Du dich daran beteiligst und mithilfst die besten Bilder des diesjährigen Wettbewerbs auszuwählen. Alle Informationen zur Vorjury findest Du hier.
An dieser Stelle sei noch auf die Preisverleihung von Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in Deutschland hingewiesen: Diese findet am 25. Für die Fotografen der Top-10-Bilder und die Sonderpreisträger werden Reisekosten sowie eine Übernachtung durch Wikimedia Deutschland übernommen.

Hallo, Vuxi,
du hast mir schon zum zweiten Mal eine {{Location}}-Vorlage in File:Isarkanal bei Eitting.jpeg eingebaut, und zwar mit den Koordinaten des abgebildeten Kraftwerks. {{Location}} bezeichnet aber die Position der Kamera, und die war ziemlich weit weg, da es sich um eine Luftaufnahme handelt. Für die Position des abgebildeten Objekts gibt es die Vorlage {{Object location}}, zu der habe ich deine Angaben beim ersten Mal geändert.
Jetzt musste ich deine Änderung einfach rückgängig machen. Bei Bildern, die bereits ein {{Object location}} haben, scheint es mir wenig sinnvoll, noch ein {{Location}} einzubauen, wenn es der Fotograf nicht schon selbst getan hat.

- Hallo Vuxi, ich sehe das auch so, dass es problematisch ist bei einem 'fremden' Foto eine Angabe zur Kameraposition einzufügen, massenhaft. Nun ist es aber offensichtlich so, dass du ganz einfach die falsche Vorlage verwendet hast, die eingefügten Koordinaten zeigen die Objektposition, stichprobenartig überprüft. Wiki Loves Monuments 2019
Hallo Vuxi,
bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. bis zum 30. September 2019 findet zum neunten Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments statt. Dabei können Bau- und Kulturdenkmale fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich ein, dieses Jahr wieder mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!
Es sind viele spannende Motive überall in Deutschland zu fotografieren. Neben beeindruckenden märchenhaften Schlössern, Burgen und Kirchen können auch andere Kulturdenkmale wie Brücken, Industrieruinen, Bauernhöfe oder Parks fotografiert werden, um sie unter anderem in der Wikipedia zu dokumentieren. In den letzten Jahren sind zahlreiche neue Denkmallisten entstanden, die sich über Fotos freuen. Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.
Du bist interessiert, am Wettbewerb mitzuwirken, dir fehlt aber die richtige Technik? Dann wirf doch mal einen Blick in den Technikpool und das Technikleihportal von Wikimedia Deutschland! Dort findest du Kameras, Objektive und Zubehör verschiedenster Art. Sollte noch Technik fehlen, die aber in Zukunft unbedingt benötigt wird, dann freut sich Wikimedia Deutschland über dein Feedback zum Technikpool.
Außerdem laden wir Dich ein, ab Mitte September 2019 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Important message for file movers
A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.
Possible acceptable uses of this ability:
- To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
- To perform file name swaps.
- When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)
Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.
The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning.
