Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Wiki Science Competition 2019 and national deadline[edit]

Hi, I am an organizer of Wiki Science Competition. I just want inform you that your WSC2019 files were uploaded in a category of a country (France) after the deadline, that is after November, 30th.

To be honest, I am not even sure that you wanted to upload those files to the French category, it's unusual for somebody who writes mostly in English... but you used the wsc-fr upload interface. Now, it's too late to move them to another one, almost all countries have completed their evaluation. The files will be therefore put, according to the rules, to the "rest of the world" category, where they have a chance to compete. This is the last category to start the evaluation process after all other ones have declared their finalists (see template:WSC winners 2019 navigation).

Hello; thank you for inform me, about it. In fact, I have mixed-up the two interfaces ; my bad ! On one, my profile don’t appear and it appears on the second one .. The file concerned is a ghost in your talk about .. i don’t drive well the interface ! And my website link is broken so as soon i can , I take my computer to fix all that . I’m currently on iPhone . Wiki Science Competition 2021 has started[edit]

Dear uploader of European Science Photo Competition 2015, Wiki Science Competition 2017 and Wiki Science Competition 2019, we would like to remind you that Wiki Science Competition 2021 has started in the whole world. It is now completed in Russia (active in May), but it's still open in almost all the other countries.

If you want to take part in WSC2021, please consult this page. Only some national categories are associated to competitions with local prizes.

If you are an expert user, we remind you that images uploaded within the deadline can be included in any case in their national category even if not uploaded with the main interface.

Please keep in mind that there is a new category this year, that is "astronomy".

If you had already uploaded a file this year, please consider improving the description in English of your files (click on the edit button), since such description is what the international jury will use to evaluate them. World finalists will be finalized after March 2022.

Please do not make multiple undeletion requests concerning an image that has been deleted per community consensus unless you provide new arguments. The image out of scope of this project. By this reply I want just to inform wiki commons that I will officially file a complaint against you and even against the foundation and I will explain my situation and all the things that happened here; I am a former television employee and I am certified in victimology, which means that I am a qualified person in several areas and in general if I find myself faced with situations that I find abusive, it is because elements are identifiable in this sense and I will ensure that this is reported to the competent authorities; your answers to this do not interest me at all; there is a timeline with enough elements to demonstrate cyber harassment and especially to officially demonstrate that your actions were abusive. I received a wiki notification requesting removal of my file and I have submitted all interactions of this member of: Chinese Wikipedia for cyberharassment-verification.

etc as you will see in the video) to classify as: screenshot (that suits me, but deleting the other categories is an abuse) but that's not all: the image is part of a wiki sciences competition so will be seen and approved years ago and also: used by two pages; just for that plus according to the charter, the deletion should not even have been considered.

It turns out that all these interactions have no real meaning; everything points us towards harassment since he takes months and has interactions on my work when I don't know it and several months later, he wants to destroy the work, again:
