Thanks for uploading Image:PJDA.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

French stamps

[edit]

Thanks you for your message. I found the following information about copyright on French stamps from La Poste ([1]):

Images of PJDA and of the Arch

[edit]

Hello Varp,

I am so sorry not to be able to help you for the missing pictures.

From Port Jeanne d'Arc, I have only very bad ones, dark, remote or blurry. Though, a lot of people have been there and have taken photos of this place, so I hope somebody would be generous enough to load one's owns. But for the moment I find people not very keen to share their experience.

From the Arch, I have none. I have been there only once in 1999 but the weather and the light were not appropriate to make pictures. I think this will be harder to find, because it is not common to visit this place.

From the grave of Bernhard Herrmann, it was a chance I have been there at this moment with the missioned military team and with my camera, because very few people know exactly where the grave is.

Congratulations for your work about Kerguelen on german wikipedia.
Cheers.

Kerguelen position

[edit]

Hi! I don't like the current image – it is not obvious that Kerguelen is in the small off-center square on the image; the earlier version of the image looks a lot better, as it also projects Antarctica correctly; the current projection type does not fit for an island group this close to the Antarctica. I have reverted to the original version because:
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. I notice that you have uploaded a new image and at the same time replaced an older one. I think you should know that this is only allowed when the two images are almost exactly alike. Here in Commons we would like to host as many different, useful versions as possible for Wikimedia projects to choose from. I have restored your image to an older version, but I hope you will upload your fine image with another name. Thank you, and happy editing! -Samulili 18:53, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
