Your Hillman[edit]

Moved from User:Umberleigh, Special:Diff/26780358:

Would it be possible to provide a little more information on the Hillman of which you uploaded a picture, please? Like ... is it some kind of a special bodied Minx? Or what? A prewar design reintroduced in the 1940s or something quietly dreamt up during the war? Thank you for any further info. Thanks, in any case, for sharing the picture. Rescued from Special:AbuseLog/3038494: Early 1947 Hillman Minx Coupe (Mk1). As far as I know the car is the last of the line models build from stock before the war. After this release the Mk11 had integral headlights. I bought the car in 1965 from a dealer in Kingston. It has been to Paris and France. Up to Wales and the lakes. My Dad put a new rook on for me about 35 years ago. Sprayed Racing Cream from the original Black about 15 years ago. It is at present painted over with cream sand army paint to preserve the car while it rests. I Hope next year to bring her back out onto the road again. She will need new seat covers as the original leather has perished. Side valve engine still fine, head off and stored for now, while I put a new valve seat in.
