File:Hot water boilers Colterm.jpg[edit]

Hi, Turbojet.
Can you explain to me the reason of this revert?
That equipment looks like a steam generator to me, not a boiler. Let me know if you have some particular reason or if you just looked to the name of the file. --Daniele Pugliesi (talk) 17:49, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your answer, now it is clear. Well, actually I need to understand better the difference between steam generators and boilers so I can recognize them better the next time. Please suggest me a good book where it is explained if you know it, possibly with some section of the equipment showing all the parts.
I am a Chemical Process Engineer, the only one at the moment in it.wikipedia, so I would be really happy to work with you. I have knowledge in heat transfer theory, heat exchangers design and heat exchangers thermal integration.
I am listing here some ways we could collaborate, let me know which one do you prefer or whether you have any other idea:
  • create a list of all the pages that need to be translated
  • collaborate together for the creation or translation of quality pages (from Romanian to Italian/English and from Italian to Romanian/English)
  • exchange each other suggestions about the way we are improving the pages (e.g.: sources, models, useful links, etc.)
I am also keen to collaborate with you outside Wikipedia: if you like the idea, you can send me an email with your contacts.
Regards.

Hi Turbojet. In this deletion request, the nominator is quoting Commons policies which already address the issue you are raising: we explicitly don't apply the PD-Art exception to coins. As such the closing admin didn't think it necessary to quote the policies again.

Our PD-Art policy is founded on a US case, Bridgeman v. Corel. Other countries have different approaches: for instance, the British "sweat of the brow" policy grants copyright protection, in effect, to skilled (= not entirely automated) reproduction of 2D content. Several French courts have also granted copyright protection to the reproduction of paintings, and so on. As a matter of principle (we think copyright should be strictly about originality, not skill or effort), it is Commons' position to apply PD-Art to all 2D artworks, even if they come from the UK or France. In turn, we are very strict on the definition of "2D artworks", which is why we deliberately exclude coins, medals and such from PD-Art. I hope I have made things clearer. Also, a very happy new year to you and your loved ones. Jastrow (Λέγετε) 19:31, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are mistaken in believing that "nobody cares". You are not the first to raise the subject, which has been discussed many times. It's exactly the reason why we have Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag#Photograph of an old coin found on the Internet. Many Commons admins such as myself have researched extensively on the matter. The conclusion is that the issue is, in practice, complicated (see my compilation about French case law, which goes both ways: fr:Utilisatrice:Jastrow/PD-art). We have asked the Wikimedia Foundation's General Counsel, Mike Godwin. Quoting the policy: "in his view, coin images do not fall under Bridgeman v. Corel and hence are copyrighted: see Wikipedia talk:Non-free content/Archive 25#Photographs of ancient coins." Jastrow (Λέγετε) 09:46, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hotel Timisoara, Eingangsseite[edit]

Hallo Turbojet, was soll denn der Unsinn mit dem Hotel Continental? Auf dem Bild ist das Hotel Timisoara zu sehen. Ich habe das Foto selbst gemacht. Würdest du das bitte wieder in Ordnung bringen. -- Eli.P (talk) 08:34, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File:Timisoara collage.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Category discussion warning

"Constantin Diaconovici Loga" Highschool, Timișoara has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Thanks for uploading File:Ebike-hub-motor-planetary-gearbox.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Ebike-hub-motor-planetary-gearbox.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Wdwd (talk) 17:29, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Wdwd: At the time of upload the source license was CC-BY-SA. Normally, the license was verified by someone immediately after my upload. Now I see, the webmaster has changed his mind and added NC there. I knew that once released, an image is free, it can no longer be taken back. But we will not waste our time, obviously we cannot get an OTRS permission. Delete it. --Turbojet (talk) 18:09, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, in such cases you should mark the image immediately after the upload with {{License review}} to start the review process. btw, the file will be deleted after 7 days without permission.--Wdwd (talk) 18:40, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Wdwd: Thanks for the information, I'll know in the future. I did not think the webmaster would change the license - we, the ones who work with free materials, do not change our options. As I said, delete it. --Turbojet (talk) 18:57, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Photographies des généraux roumains[edit]

Bonjour.

Important message for file movers[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Mircea Ciobanu[edit]

Hi Turbojet, User:Asybaris01 has speedy-tagged all files in Category:Mircea Ciobanu, because "The copyright holder no longer agrees with the release of the images (all Mircea Ciobanu) on wikipedia". I've already deleted all related files, which had no completed OTRS-ticket. However, there are 7 files, which carry a finalized ticket, tagged by you:

Are these images/files really different from all the others (now deleted) with regard to copyright? Or should we consider the permission to be withdrawn also for these? --Túrelio (talk) 10:35, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, delete all. Thanks. Asybaris01 (talk) 10:43, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Turbojet, the following content you uploaded violates one or more of our policies and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:

The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:
  • use in any work, regardless of content
  • creation of derivative works
  • commercial use
  • free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works.
