Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:

• Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
• State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
• If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
• Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.

Je suis sûre qu'il est très simple de modifier la ligne de code pour la syntaxe

d'autre part, penses-tu qu'il serait aussi possible d'ajouter, en bas du modèle Creator "|Wikidata = Q#" afin qu'il ne soit pas nécessaire de le faire à la main ?

N'hésite pas à contacter directement Jarekt qui est le principal "mainteneur" du modèle {{Creator}}, et qui sera sans doute celui qui "branchera" son bot sur ton site pour les mises à jour, donc qui a le plus besoin de comprendre comment il marche

J'ai mis à jour le script sur mon common.js pour le format des liens. Pour le reste, je pense qu'il vaut mieux attendre que Jarekt passe avec son bot pour mettre à jour tout d'un coup (liens vers wikipedia, wikidata, wikisource et les notices d'autorités). Tpt (talk) 18:34, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

CreatorLinks

Bonsoir,

je voulais te signaler un petit problème qui peut se poser, en cas d'homonymie Creator:George Romney - le lien Wikidata qui figure dans la base est celui de la page d'homonymie.

Il faudrait pouvoir insérer la valeur correcte de Wikidata (une fois créée le cas échéant), pour éviter des liens incorrects, soit manuellement, soit par prise en compte de la valeur saisie dans le champ "Wikidata" du creator.

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.

incorrect data at creatorlinks

Tpt, After editing many thousands templates I discovered some bad edits during a random check. After some close inspection the edits are dou to bad data in http://creatorlinks.wmflabs.org/index.php?id=27839&format=html page which seems to mix data of at least 4 individuals. Can you look into this? Any chance of identifying other pages with similar issues so I can correct the edits? I stopped the bot for time being. --Jarekt (talk) 03:32, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

I've fixed the last two links ( http://creatorlinks.wmflabs.org/index.php?id=6558&format=html and http://creatorlinks.wmflabs.org/index.php?id=12030&format=html ). They were because of parser issues. I've deleted all links with a such issue. About http://creatorlinks.wmflabs.org/index.php?id=27839&format=html , it's because an issue of parsing of wrong links. J'ai un petit souci avec certains boutons qui n'apparaissent pas quand j'édite sur commons. Il s'agit du code qui se trouve là :User:Coyau/ToolbarMH.js que j'importe dans mon Vector.js. I'm not going to revert your upload right now, but whether your changes result in an "improved presentation" is open to doubt. Such pseudo-reflective gradients are required on French Wikipedia, but not too commonly used on English Wikipedia, and some people dislike them intensely. AnonMoos (talk) 16:12, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

A problem with scripts on Creator templates

Salut Tpt,

ça faisait un moment que je n'avais pas mis les pieds (ou les doigts plutôt) sur Commons, et en voulant créer des fiches Creator, je me suis aperçue que les scripts d'ajout des AC et celui que tu m'avais fait pour récupérer les liens des autres langues (avec la balle de tennis) ne fonctionnent plus du tout…

Je présume qu'il y a eu des changements dans le fonctionnement, qui rendent ces scripts inopérants, mais c'est un peu embêtant, parce que je ne me vois pas faire le boulot de récupération à la main…

Peux-tu y faire quelque chose, si tu as un peu de temps, sinon, tant pis…

Je viens te voir car depuis que User:Rocket000 nous a quitté, je suis en recherche d'un partenaire en template et module.
J'ai actuellement un gros soucis: Module:Wikidata4Bio accède à wikidata. Il ne marche plus aujourd'hui car mw.wikibase.getEntity() ne fonctionne plus. mw.wikibase vaut Nil!!!
C'est quoi le problème?

Salut ! Le support de la phase 2 sur commons (ie #property et wm.wikibase) viens d'être désactivé hier (il avait été activé par inadvertance il y a quelques semaines et les devs de Wikidata on pensé que personne ne l'utilisait). N'hésite pas à parler à Lydia_WMDE sur IRC (chan #wikidata) à propos de cela, ou, à défaut, utilise d:Wikidata:Contact the development team. Tpt (talk) 18:18, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Un problème avec IAUpload

j'espère que tu vas bien, et que ce beau printemps qui commence augure d'une belle année 2014 pour tous, dans la vie personnelle, professionnelle et aussi pour les projets wiki…

J'ai voulu uploader un bouquin depuis IA ce soir, et j'ai eu une erreur 404 sur la page du de l'outil [1].

Y a-t-il eu un problème avec cet outil, ou bien l'as-tu simplement déplacé et je ne suis pas à jour :)

Merci en tous cas de voir si tu peux y faire quelque chose, car c'est un auxiliaire précieux pour récupérer un scan sur IA sans peine…

IAuploadBot et les fichiers importés d'IA en masse, en pdf...

Salut, J'ai récemment voulu importer un bouquin de IA, malheureusement, un contributeur a déjà importé ce bouquin en PDF - et je ne peux donc pas le récupérer en DjVu... serait-il possible de déverrouiller cette option quand il s'agit d'importer un djvu d'un fichier déjà récupéré en pdf, stp ?

petit problème d'import avec IA-Upload

J'espère que vous avez passé de bonnes fêtes, et que tout le monde va bien...

En voulant montrer à Noé (du wiktionnaire) comment importer un bouquin de IA sur Commons ce matin, nous avons eu un échec, avec le message "Slim Application Error A website error has occurred. Sorry for the temporary inconvenience."

Il s'agissait de l'ouvrage https://archive.org/details/vibert-pour-lire-en-automobile-1901 qui ne devrait, a priori, pas poser de problème.

Merci de voir ce qui a pu provoquer cette erreur, que je n'avais jamais vue.
