Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Deletion of 46115 Photograph

Just because one of my photos isnt up to scratch does NOT give you the right to get it removed for a pathetic reason, there are poorer quality images out there and your targeting me including the steamport images which were taken by my father and iv had permission from for their use. The way your acting you want all my images removed, I am asking for this deletion request to be removed as although it may NOT be fit for use in an article there is no reason for it to be removed. You are welcome to review images or other content, but you need to understand Wikimedia Commons scope and policies. Regards, Yann (talk) 05:16, 5 April 2019 (UTC)

So where are these policies? Because Wikipedia has loads of policies, and a lot of qualit control, but Commons, not so much. Tony May (talk) 13:33, 5 April 2019 (UTC)

Categorisation

For the love of all that is holy, will you please start adding categories to your uploads? I quote from the COM:Categories policy: "It is essential that every file can be found by browsing the category structure."
