Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Tafel_für_Ankeruhr.JPG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. odder 08:13, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose things should be in order then, but you need to forward that mail from permission-de to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org, and please make sure that the link to the image is included. I'm changing the tag at the image from No permission to Otrs pending. (Copy of this message at your German wikipedia talkpage). Tip: Categorizing images[edit]

Hello, Toffel!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

BotMultichillT 06:20, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I did not categorize the pictures because I don't know, which animals are shown in the pictures. A few days later I will upload them again with a better name and caterories. --Toffel (talk) 09:06, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ganoderma applanatum[edit]

Hello Toffel,

Jean-Pol GRANDMONT (talk) 23:52, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Allô Jean-Pol!
You can reply at your discussion page, so the process is easy to find.
This mushroom is really strange. Usually G. applanatum is very flat and more brownish. Is it normal for that region, that this mushroom has this shape and colour?
I don't know which species is in your picture but I can ask some people in a forum who know mushrooms better than me. --Toffel (talk) 22:44, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Toffel,

Jean-Pol GRANDMONT (talk) 00:08, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Allô Jean-Pol!
I showed your picture to a forum community but they could not identify the mushrooms. These are very old ones and it is maybe impossible to specify them.
I also showed them the other picture of G. applanatum. They believed in the genus Ganoderma but perhaps had not thought of G. applanatum, if they did not knew. They wrote, that it is a very untypical one. There are very thick fruiting bodies at the top edge in the picture on the right but they are much younger, just emerged. Or does the one in your picture just seem to be older (and bigger)? Did you take the photo very close to the mushroom? --Toffel (talk) 21:59, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oui la photo a été prise à très courte distance. C'est ce qui donne cette impression d'épaisseur, mais les spores n'ont laissé aucun doute au sujet de la détermination du champignon. En tout cas, merci pour tes recherches. Jean-Pol GRANDMONT (talk) 23:51, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for finding out the species. --Túrelio (talk) 23:11, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kannst ruhig deutsch schreiben. ;-) Keine Ursache. Bin gerade dabei, die unbestimmten Bilder, falls möglich, einzuordnen. --Toffel (talk) 23:20, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Coprinellus domesticus s. l.[edit]

Hi Toffel,

On some of my pictures you have written Coprinellus domesticus s. l. What means the two last caracters: s. l.? Please answer. Regards. DenesFeri (talk) 09:31, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DenesFeri, the abbreviation "s. l." means "sensu lato" (in a broader sense). I chose this name, because one cannot say, what species it is exactly. But Coprinellus disseminatus is not included. --Toffel (talk) 20:56, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thank you for your answer and for the better identification! Cheers. DenesFeri (talk) 11:11, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. --Toffel (talk) 21:38, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tricholoma orirubens[edit]

Okey. I changed the name: Tricholoma atrosquamosum. Selso (talk) 03:28, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure, that it is Tricholoma atrosquamosum? Well, there is a new interpretation of the two species. Maybe Tricholoma orirubens s. l. is an option, if you are not sure. --Toffel (talk) 03:56, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Now I'm sure this is Tricholoma atrosquamosum. I found I have more pictures of this species (automatic translation) Selso (talk) 16:51, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Supporting renames with an evidence base[edit]

Hi Toffel. You have asked for the rename for quite a few files, and at the moment all we have to support these requests is your opinion. Generally we would like to have valid source, and something stronger than an opinion. Such would be by comment in the rename request of the source material being used, or a demonstration of being an authority on the subject matter.  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:21, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I should note that I am guessing that you have been in communication with the contributor as they supplied request for renames earlier, and they are on your page. This is about ensuring that we are maintaining and keeping standards high.  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:24, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello billinghurst, the renames mainly concern the genus Mycena. Most of the species in this genus are only identifiable using a microscope,[1] what the author (James Lindsey) did not do. On top of that many of the pictures obviously do not show the species that is claimed. That is why most of the images should renamed "Mycena spec.". If possible I tried to identify the species correctly. With File:Melanoleuca.paedida.-.lindsey.jpg, for example, you can use Google. It is evident that it is not Melanoleuca paedida. To proof Tricholomopsis rutilans you can compare e. g. with the description here. I hope I could help you. If some more sources are necessary, I will continue later. Please don't remove the templates before the problem is solved. --Toffel (talk) 05:10, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I was more indicating that the renames should be based on more than opinion, in other words, at this distance, your opinion looks exactly like someone else's who asks for a rename. So if I come to your user page, I would expect to see some demonstration that you are more than a rank amateur with fungi (statement on user page would be helpful), a note referencing a work that is an authority, or a link to a discussion that you have undertaken with the contributor to address the issue. Your statements in reply indicate some of that though are not bald statements that gives an admin/filemover some confidence that someone isn't going to scream at them "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!?"  — billinghurst sDrewth 03:41, 15 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Another user already contacted the author. But Lindsey doesn't seem to be very interested in what happens to the images on Commons. That is understandable because it doesn't appear to have been his idea to upload the images here. What benefit should a contact have, in which we would discuss all the doubtful pictures, with a person who can not identify the species? So all the requests were done by me. Unfortunately it is hard to proof that I am right also because I have to evaluate about 1000 pictures by Lindsey. --Toffel (talk) 13:45, 15 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Steffen! :) Krzysiu (talk) 22:01, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. --Toffel (talk) 11:08, 16 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Attribution for image[edit]

Dear Sir,

I would like to use your image "Spermophilus variegatus Grand Canyon 3" available at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File%3ASpermophilus_variegatus_Grand_Canyon_3.JPG, in an extension-outreach publication related to pests in community environments. This publication is purely for educational purposes and has no commercial interests whatsoever.

However, the suggested attribution format,"By Toffel (Own work) [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons", is very different from the style I will be following for other pictures in my publication, which will most likely be much shorter and in the format:

"Photo by Abc Defghijk", or "Photo by Abc Defghijk, Lmnopqr.org".

Therefore for the sake of consistency, kindly let me know whether I may cite the images in the above formats, and if so, what name/affiliation should I use.

Thank you! Sincerely, Shaku

Hallo Toffel, eine informative Grafik. Könntest Du die bei Gelegenheit mal aktualisieren? Gruß --Bert (talk) 11:01, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo Toffel!

Ciao--Bestoernesto (talk) 06:43, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
