I asked for the deletion of Image:Ikuriña.gif and uploaded Image:Basque Country Flag.png (correct proportions and colors). Willy 18:36, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Edi Rama Image

I think you first uploaded [1] on the en.wikipedia, right? I moved it to Commons [2] a while ago but it is now pending for deletion. Could you please put the right template there as I don't know much about the copyright status of the picture. Thanks.

As I mentioned in the picture's description, it's fair use, which means it shouldn't be uploaded in commons. Dori | Talk 01:48, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

-- gildemax 07:01, 28 December 2005 (UTC) --

Hi, all images on WikiCommons must be made available for commercial use. You claim both that this can be used commercially but also that it can't. Which is it? Thuresson 00:14, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Gallo and Breton.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Hello, can you specifiy what is unclear about the copyright status of this image? It says right below the licensing tag where it is taken from and that the copyright holder (in other words, the person responsible for the site) did not mind it being used under the circumstances we require it to be licensed under. What licensing information is missing? --Chlämens 19:18, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
You claimed The copyright holder of this image allows anyone to use it for any purpose including unrestricted redistribution, commercial use, and modification. Where confirmation could be find? And words Answer to the request if the map could be used under Licensing#Acceptable_licenses: "Yes, it's fine". doesn't define terms of use. --EugeneZelenko 19:25, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
You claim that the source is not being given, even though it is ([1]). On this website, the copyright info states that: "In general, and unless otherwise indicated, we allow you to reproduce, transmit and distribute parts of this content for non-profit purposes as long as you identify the source as www.celtia.info.", that is not enough for Commons, so I e-mailed them and asked if the map could be used under our acceptable licenses which includes as the third point "Commercial use of the work must be allowed". I assume the creator of the map read this and responded by writing back "yes, it's fine"; if you want to check this you can also e-mail them at info@celtia.info. What I should have done is specify that the source has to be given, and I fixed that now. --Chlämens 09:31, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
At least non-profit purposes is not compatible with Commons:Licensing. Again, you should ask exact licenses which could be applied. --EugeneZelenko 14:50, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Bilingual Signage Deletion

I don't get why the image [2] is violating copyright. I contacted the webmaster- as you can read - who affirmed that we could use it. If that doesn't count as free license then what does? Please explain. --Chlämens 15:35, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

I'll be glad to explain. The webmaster released the image as free for non commercial use ("I can confirm that the photos of bilingual signage are free of restriction for non-commercial use. Geraint Jennings, Maître-pêtre des Pages Jèrriaises")
diff. However, images released under such a licence are specifically banned from the commons. Unfree Copyrights. I'm sorry that this is the case, but you do have some possible recourse.
You can ask the webmaster to release the image under a Free licence. If you're going to be sending it to a French-speaker, here are some form letters for you. If it's going to be in English, you might want to try :here. Remember, the main point is that the image has to be released under a free licence. Good luck. (Please re-tag the image for deletion if this doesn't work, but I suspect that it will work). --Zantastik 04:03, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

I would like to let you know that I have requested the deletion of the image in subject. Thanks for your attention and best of all, --Piero Montesacro 11:55, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Help

Hi Chlämens, I have a small problem with a (until now unregistered but now) registered user that keeps changing the summary at my pictures, especially these tree [3]|[4]|[5]. Is there any possibility you lock these pictures for any further edit and just leave them the way they were at the very first time i have posted them, please? If there is anything else you want to know we can discuss about it on my discussion page. Thank you Zeke 15:49, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Please help replace this outdated license

Hello!

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.

The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.

Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.
