Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Targeting, Edit warring and nomination for deletion of images

Sorry for interrupting but could you please explain the reason for your nomination of this images for deletion. @AlbusTheWhite: It seems that you have misunderstood the explanation Cabayi gave at en-Wiki. Commons does not accept copyrighted material whatsoever (which you should know from all the message in your Commons talk page). If you want to use the logos as non-free fair use, you will have to upload them not here at Commons, but in en-Wiki. File:Flag of Athens.svg

Greetings, the file "Flag of Athens.svg" was deleted due to copyright violations but the file in question is not a direct copy of the officer, it's a creation of mine based on the description of the flag. If compare the deleted version and the official one will see that neither the bust of Athena nor the laurel wreath are copies.

I understand that these cases do not infringe copyrights, as happens with the coats of arms that are created versions for Wikimedia according to the blazon. That being the case, I ask that the deletion be reversed although in case of being wrong I will accept that it remains deleted.

Challenging speedy deletion

Hi! You recently tagged File:Συνάντηση Κυριάκου Μητσοτάκη με την Κατερίνα Σακελλαροπούλου.webm and File:Katerina Sakellaropoulou.jpg as Copyvio and your rationale was: "Taken from YouTube |source= https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcts-4BFrSs ". This rationale does not make sense since this is the source already indicated in the file descriptions, and the youtube video is an original from the official account of the prime minister office, licensed as CC-BY-3.0. Probably you have not noticed that, so would you like to remove the speedy deletion tags, or make a regular deletion request? -Geraki ^T_L^G 16:31, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

Manzikert, Myriokephalon paintings

Hello, I want to talk about Manzikert and Myriokephalon paintings. These paintings are publicly exhibited at the Istanbul Military Museum, so I uploaded them here based on this. However, I am puzzled by the detailed "copyright" requests you have asked me to do. Alexander M. Samsonov, the author of these tables, cannot be reached in any way, he has no copyright information, mail or website. (So, He dont took the copyright of the paintings himself. There is no such information, the painting is exhibited without copyright in a public museum anyway.) We therefore conclude that the author "died". However, since I am new to Wikipedia, I have now realized that I used incorrect numbers in the author's date of death and the date the table was made. Will this image be accepted on Wikipedia once this date has resolved the issue? I'm asking these questions as I'm new here. Can you help me? Ulpionz (talk) 16:32, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

@Ulpionz: Unless the artwork has been released by the copyright owner (in this case artist and/or museum) with a free license, it is not allowed in Wikipedia. See Commons:Licensing. --TU-nor (talk) 17:15, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

@Ulpionz: As I said, see Commons:Licensing. But if I were you, I would not waste time on contacting the author and the museum. If they gave you this license, they would release the artwork for free use worldwide, and that is not realistic. --TU-nor (talk) 17:55, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

@Ulpionz: You would need to make the copyright holder (in this case probably both the artist and the museum) publicly declare that they release the picture under Creativ Commons or similar free license. @Ulpionz: I have already answered that. If they gave this license, they would release the artwork for free use worldwide, and that is not realistic. That would mean that anyone could use the picture in books, or even sell it as postcards, posters etc. without paying the owners (artist and/or museum) anything. Flags of micronations

I'm fine with the criterium that a flag must be used on a page somewhere, or the overview turns into the mess that we had. However, there is no rule that says only pages on Wikipedia are relevant. Guido den Broeder I am not quite sure what you are warning me about, nor do I quite see what would happen if I disregard your warning. I have stated a few times that Wikisage is not a valid source for – well, actually for anything, and I will gladly repeat that. I removed the mention of Wikisage in the Alt.out. page because I find it too insignificant to mention there and because I find it completely inappropriate of you to promote your own creation in that way. I see that you claim that it is not my personal website, but after all you have stated on your user page here at Commons that you are the founder, and according to the 'User list' of Wikisage you are also the sole bureaucrat, supervisor and administrator etc. According to the article about you in Wikisage, you are also the owner, but then I am a bit reluctant to take any thing in a Wikisage article at face value.

Anyway, I can not promise to stop fighting the addition of useless information whenever I come across it. --TU-nor (talk) 22:33, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

Wikisage counts some 66,000 encyclopedic articles and has been declared digital heritage by the Royal Dutch Library. Calling that insignificant (and worse) is inappropriate, and attempting to remove all mention of it is a violation of policy. As a source, it has the same role as Wikipedia. Guido den Broeder I must admit that I am getting a bit curious about Wikisage (of which I have so far only looked at the English edition with 865 pages and thirtysomething editors with actual edits, most of them back ten years or more). One question: If Nederlandse Koninklijke Bibliotheek has declared Wikisage digital heritage, how come when searching for wikisage AND "digitaal erfgoed", I get just one single hit outside wikisage.org and paraduin.nl, and that is a dead link? Hits for wikisage AND "digital heritage" are confusing and not enlightening, but certainly not saying anything about such declaration. Guido den Broeder So if it is not published in any way by the declaring organisation or noticed by any news agency or by anyone else, how did Wikisage get to know it? Someone whispered in your ear? This is really wierd. The whole point about declaring anything as erfgoed/heritage is that it is made public.
