File:George A Danos.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi there. A newcomer has repeatedly removed the DR tag from the file they uploaded. As they are new to Commons I do not wish to take them to AN, can you please warn them as you are online and take the file to your watchlist so that they cannot continue this disruptive behaviour? Thanks in advance. --E4024 (talk) 23:48, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Andrey, yes I may be a newcomer, but you may see my comment to E4024's page, that I have spent the last 3 hours reading on how to correctly mark licensing. In my efforts to do the right thing, this user (E4024) has counter-productively and dismissively, been reverting my efforts to correctly indicate the license of the image. I am sure you can see a self-evident problem in the conversation on the deletion request as well as the user's page. I requested for a constructive guidance, instead I got nothing than dismissive "I am an old knowledgeable user and you are not" kind of remarks. Instead of just marking an image for deletion, shouldn't someone assist in correctly indicating the license. What is the point of wasting people's efforts to contribute to Wikipedia, and in the end drive these well meaning newbies away. That is clearly not in the spirit of Wikipedia. Please note that user E4024 has been blocked in the past for similar behavior towards others. In this case I feel victimized and borderline cyber bullied by this user and I seek your advise on this matter. Thank you. --Stellar77 (talk) 00:25, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have no doubts in your best intentions. However, there is a certain order of how the process should go. You have uploaded a picture. Another user nominated it for deletion. You may not remove this tag from the page of the picture, you are not recommended to challenge the user's intentions at this or that user talk page: you are welcome to the page of deletion request to explain what's going on and why you believe this picture should be kept. It might happen to any participant of this project, no offence intended. Andrei Romanenko (talk) 00:50, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I did further reading in my effort to understand, and I see that file should not have been nominated for deletion, but merely marked for discussion according to [1]. This is a case of unmerited overzealous deletion. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you! --Stellar77 (talk) 00:51, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • It might be nominated for discussion, true, but it was nominated for deletion and it does not violate Commons' rules as well. Being nominated for deletion does not mean being deleted, right? Please be patient and discuss the picture, its origin and applied rights rather than people's actions and behaviour, it would be really more helpful. Andrey, thank you! Your replies are very useful and constructive. I shall patiently do as you have advised. --Stellar77 (talk) 01:40, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
