JetRepublic

Hi Smooth O,
is there any special reason proposed the higher-res version of File:JetRepublic-7.jpg for deletion (as dupe) instead of the lower-res version? --Túrelio (talk) 18:29, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

I haven't watch resolution, only file name. --Smooth_O (talk) 18:38, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Ok. I've changed the dupe-speedy. However, after deletion, the remaining one needs renaming. --Túrelio (talk) 19:21, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Thank you

--Erwin Lindemann 14:57, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Okay, an error and I'll change it to the right name as soon as possible. (Do you have an idea what was the name until 1918?) But, if you're living in Sarajevo could you take a photo of Franz-Josef Kaserne? It would really help me beacause im trying to find „all“ the forgotten (and still in use) barracks of the former Austria-Hungarian Army for the article. Thank you. --Erwin Lindemann 12:40, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Category discussion notification Category:Vatican City has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.
In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Duplicates

Hi Smooth O.

thank you for tagging all those duplicates. I wanted to ask you if you could check the dates of the duplicate files as well and prefer the files that have been on commons longer. There are also other things to consider:

  • which files has been on commons longer?
  • has the files which should stay a valid license?
  • has the file which should stay categories, description, etc.?

It would be great if you could consider those points and copy missing information from one file to the other! Thank you. Amada44  talk to me 08:54, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for suggestion, I will have this in mind. --Smooth_O (talk) 08:58, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Great! Before deleting, admins have to review all those points and decide which one to delete so it makes live quite allot easier if the right one is marked as duplicate already. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Amada44  talk to me 09:04, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Here I noticed, that one image is PD and the other one is cc-by-2.0. Here it would be better to keep the PD version. The cc-by-2.0 has also been on commons longer. just for your info ;) Amada44  talk to me 10:37, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello!

Can you state any valid reason why you disagree with the existence of the Category:Categories of Bosnia and Herzegovina? Thanks in advance for clarification. Regards, High Contrast (talk) 20:28, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

There is a category tree existing: Category:Countries by category. But it seems that there is DR running. Woulf be nice if you state your opinion in this discussion instead of clearing it. Consider that on COMMONS it is no valid rationale that one category has only "three categories" in it. Regards, High Contrast (talk) 11:24, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

About your edit. These are the same files, from the same source. I've upload the file 28 August 2009, File:5315-0001-reverse.gif was upload later -- 24 October 2009. Why do you nominate my file for deletion? --Dnikitin (talk) 14:39, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Duplicate of ribbon bars

Hi there. You posted a duplicate notice to one of my uploads: . The reason why this is a duplicate is that the St. Olavs Orden and St. Olavsmedaljen are two different decorations with ribbon bars in identical design. So, what to do? Keep the two so that people more easily can find the appropriate illustration or rename one of the files so that the file name mentions both, then deleting the duplicate? Regards, Ordensherre (talk) 16:19, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

The Wire

If you look at The_Wire_(JTF-GTMO) you will see that I tried to give the files consistent names. The young GIs who publish the paper are stationed in Guantanamo for short gigs -- six months, or a year. And the format of the names they used changed frequently.

File:TheWire-v2-i12-30Aug02.pdf was the original name. File:The Wire Issue12v2.pdf is the nane I picked for consistency.

I think you should have put the dup tag on the other file. Geo Swan (talk) 09:16, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

✓ Done. --Smooth_O (talk) 19:15, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

File:1033177 unprocessed.jpg is a duplicate of File:Detroit Photographic Company (0083).jpg, but the use is different. A wish existed among several Wikipedian to have a category with unprocessed photochrom images, to show what they look like now. File:1033177 unprocessed.jpg is in that category. File:Detroit Photographic Company (0083).jpg is there to document the content of the image, the other one is there to document the appearance of the image. Anyone can remove noise, make color corrections or whatever on File:Detroit Photographic Company (0083).jpg, but not on the other one. Their intention of use is different, so they should not be deleted. That is the reason why I reverted your duplicate template addition. Hope you don't mind. Jan Arkesteijn (talk) 21:38, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Traditionally the use of {{Bad name}} is reserved for the uploader of the file. {{Duplicate}} is the preferable template for others and is put their for that purpose. Thx.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:45, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Not sure why you chose this selection and not the reverse. In a replacement one has to look at the whole issue, date of file, edits, no. of replacements, description, categories, etc. People may have a feeling of stewardship of their work and efforts.  — billinghurst sDrewth 21:22, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Another important point when tagging duplicates is to check categories. I note you tagged File:New Orleans Jazz Fest 2010.jpg as a duplicate of File:Bryan Lee blues.jpg, which indeed it is, to be speedy deleted. However note that the image you selected to be kept has the almost useless category "Fairgrounds", while the image you selected to delete is categorized for the specific when and where, "New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 2010". If a duplicate image has better categorization or information, please make sure that the best information and categorization is on the image to be kept-- consolidate or edit as appropriate. This is to make sure that useful information is not lost in speedy deletions. Thanks for your work. Cheers, -- Infrogmation (talk) 13:45, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I spent some time trying to find the translation you pointed to in the description of File:Tuzla, kapija.jpg but failed. Of course, Google translator gives unsatisfactory translation. Could you please write a translation of your own? --Ghainmem (talk) 10:50, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

I didn't place that link, i used upload bot to upload image from flickr, that link was already at image description on flickr. But here is my translation: Here you don't live only to live; Here you don't live only to die; Here you also die to live; Mak Dizdar; On this place, on May 25 1995, Serbian fascist aggressor with grenade stopped 71 young lives; Pray Fatiha and make a prayer, remember and admonish. Citizens of Tuzla. --Smooth_O (talk) 21:11, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
Thank you. --Ghainmem (talk) 13:25, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

your opinion please

You removed a category from this file.

  1. Someone marked the category I had initially placed on the image as a hidden category -- this made it an uncategorized image.
  2. I added Category:Flags to the image, not being an expert in flags I didn't add further classifications. I hoped flag experts would further classify it.
  3. Did you realize your removal of the category will leave the image unclassified again?

How do you think this issue should be addressed? Geo Swan (talk) 15:53, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

Now I appropriate re-categorized this image. --Smooth_O (talk) 11:52, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Do you know this crest?

Greetings! My name is Michał [Szogunos on polish Wiki]

I would like to ask you on a specific matter - do you know, by chance of luck, something more about this file? It's described as a coat of arms of Blum family from Deutschland. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wappen2.jpg

Are they from Saxnony? And if yes, from which one - Sachsen, Niedersachsen, or Sachsen-Anhalt, and which part of it? It caught my intrest, since ancestral name of my ancestors was Blum (or von Blum). There's also another Blum family in Poland (their crest is listed in Liste der Wappen der Szlachta) having also nine white roses on a blue field, and Friedrich was also popular name among them. I got in touch with some members of that family, and they told me their ancestors came to Poland with court of Wettin kings from Sachsen. But they were unable to recall from which part of it. I'll be glad for any help

Regards

Michał [Szogunos on polish Wiki]

Sorry, but i can't help you with your question, i just categorized that image to category "Coats of arms to be classified". --Smooth_O (talk) 07:09, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Mia Elezović

Pozdrav Smooth_O!

Copyrighted or not copyrighted

What would a 65 years old image of a distroyed village - Which appeared in an"out of print" book - be considered? a copyrighted material, a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, a Photograph of buildings and artworks in public spaces? the image is back dated to mandate Palestine, ie pre 1948, and Israel have a full freedom of panorama status?

note: The book auther says the photos were reproduced by courtesy of the Israel Antiquities Authority [[2]] Kessale (talk) 22:46, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Regarding [3] at page 23 of the same book the following is mentioned: Photographs from the Mandate Period (i.e. pre-1948) have been reproduced by courtesy of the Israel Antiquities Authority Gazetteer of Buildings in Muslim Palestine hope this would be enough. I wrote on the talk page of User:Smooth_O explaining the same and hoping for a reply, as I am not sure which License applies and after reading [4] I guess the following are the most applicable ones

Public domain
This work or image is now in the public domain because its term of copyright has expired in Israel (details). According to Israel's copyright statute from 2007 (translation), a work is released to the public domain on 1 January of the 71st year after the author's death (paragraph 38 of the 2007 statute) with the following exceptions:
  • A photograph taken on 24 May 2008 or earlier — the old British Mandate act applies, i.e. on 1 January of the 51st year after the creation of the photograph (paragraph 78(i) of the 2007 statute, and paragraph 21 of the old British Mandate act).
  • If the copyrights are owned by the State, not acquired from a private person, and there is no special agreement between the State and the author — on 1 January of the 51st year after the creation of the work (paragraphs 36 and 42 in the 2007 statute).
See also category: PD Israel & British Mandate.

You must also include a United States public domain tag to indicate why this work is in the public domain in the United States. Note that a few countries have copyright terms longer than 70 years: Mexico has 100 years, Jamaica has 95 years, Colombia has 80 years, and Guatemala and Samoa have 75 years. This image may not be in the public domain in these countries, which moreover do not implement the rule of the shorter term. Honduras has a general copyright term of 75 years, but it does implement the rule of the shorter term. Copyright may extend on works created by French who died for France in World War II (more information), Russians who served in the Eastern Front of World War II (known as the Great Patriotic War in Russia) and posthumously rehabilitated victims of Soviet repressions (more information).

and

Public domain
This work is based on a work in the public domain. It has been digitally enhanced and/or modified. This derivative work has been (or is hereby) released into the public domain by its author, [[:c:User:{{{1}}}|{{{1}}}]]. This applies worldwide.

In some countries this may not be legally possible; if so:

BDSM is not part of LGBT. Some LGBT people can be into BDSM, as can some straight people, and heterosexuals who participate in BDSM do not necessarily become LGBT. For the "Leather pride flag", the LGBT category is arguable, due to the connection with the old gay male "leathermen" subculture. For most other BDSM symbols, adding LGBT categories is just wrong. The transfers to Commons seem to have resulted in missing necessary information. Not sure that the (non-Wikipedia) authors of these images have released the designs to PD (though "Master Slave Pride flag.gif" could be considered {{PD-shape}})... -- AnonMoos (talk) 12:55, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Picture of the Year voting round 1 open

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Hi Smooth O - you've just added a huge number of files with the prefix P plus a number, from the NRCS Photo Gallery upload, to this category. Most, if not all, of these are downsized duplicates of other images from the same source, prefixed NRCS, and should really be deleted, rather than recategorised - Thanks! - MPF (talk) 15:06, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Addenum: I've moved them all to a new category Category:NRCS downsized duplicates so that others working on unidentified birds don't have to waste time trying to identify them before they can all be deleted - MPF (talk) 15:22, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Identified birds

When birds are identified (e.g. by their filename, like File:Great Tit (3052745632).jpg), please put them directly in the relevant category, instead of dumping them in Category:Unidentified birds to create extra work for others! Thanks. - MPF (talk) 20:45, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

bus or tram

I have declined your rename request because the criterion did not apply. On one hand, trams in Sarajevo have line numbers from 1 to 6 while those of trolleybusses are 101–103 and 107–108, but on the other hand I could not find any picture of a tram in Sarajevo that has this kind of side-mounted LCD display. If you knowledgeable about tram transport in Sarajevo, which tram type do you think this display belongs to? (I can then of course rename the file for you.)    FDMS  4    18:43, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Licence

Autorska djela Toše Dabca su zaštićena autorskim pravima 50 godina nakon smrti autora, tačnije do 2020 godine, kao što je i navedeno u template-u koji koristiš (Yugoslav Copyright Act of 1978 which provided for copyright term of the life of the author plus 50 years). --Smooth_O (talk) 18:25, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Yugoslav Copyright Act of 1978 which provided for copyright term of the life of the author plus 50 years, respectively 25 years for photograph.

Žitomislići (i ostala naselja općine Mostar) mogli pripadati u tu kategoriju.--MaGa 10:17, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

1992 anti-war protests in Sarajevo

Well the main reason why this should not be speedy-deleted is that the recordings are copyrighted by "tvsa" but are in my property. Basically, I took them from an old VHS record of the event portrayed in the video. For the 3rd picture I searched for copyright but have found no info which could prove it being copyrighted. I don't know, what do you think about this.
Thanks in advance.
Hazbulator (talk) 23:49, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

You said yourself. Screenshots are copyrighted by TVSA (now BHT), and third one don't have source. All this is reason for speedy delete from commons. --Smooth_O (talk) 09:58, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

Animal rights

Hi Smooth, please don't mix up the people associated with animal rights category with some other. It need to stay distinct. SlimVirgin (talk) 16:14, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

I see you moved it. That should have been done via a move discussion. It really ought to be moved back, though I don't know whether it makes a difference so long as the new category is empty. There is a big difference between animal rights and animal welfare, and it would cause confusion to mix those people up. SlimVirgin (talk) 16:27, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Also, the RSCPA and similar are not animal-rights organizations. I think quite a few of these changes will have to be undone. Can you say what you had in mind? SlimVirgin (talk) 16:49, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
I just tried to reorganize and sub-categorize files and categories within categories Animal rights and Animal welfare, because there were lot of mess. Regarding SPCA and similar organizations, then category Animal welfare organizations should be appropriate, if you agree. --Smooth_O (talk) 07:44, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for trying to sort it out. I agree that the SPCA should be in animal welfare organizations. But for other groups it depends on whether they are animal rights or animal welfare. There is a big difference between the two – in fact in certain ways they're opposites – and some people are offended by being called one or the other. For example, this edit is problematic. If you made others like that one, would you mind undoing them, or moving them instead to Category:People associated with animal welfare? SlimVirgin (talk) 17:59, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

I have gone ahead and removed the tag, and the notice on David's talk page. The link to David's blog was highly visible, but move to a DR and create another notice on David's page, if you want an explanation on record. Thanks -- (talk) 15:15, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
Darn, I see that David's blog is down. I can assure you it was there, it's the sort of evidence we should keep a mirror of. -- (talk) 15:18, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

OTRS

Hey. Thanks for telling me about the OTRS permission stuff and so. But, what really concerns me is that if I really need permission for pictures that my friends -who don't know how to contribute to Commons and show no interest in contributing- tell me I can upload after asking them in person or via social networks? I didn't think I needed further permission to do so, specially when I have told them in person about it, and the most I've got is an email with the content, and of course, after doing so, I uploaded these pictures but I didn't want to say they were mine, cuz they weren't. --Edjoerv (talk) 21:18, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

  • It's not that you legally need that permission to use the photo. It's that Commons policy is to require it, because we can't tell people who might want to reuse the image "you can use this image because someone you never heard of says the person who owns the rights wouldn't mind." - Jmabel ! talk 02:46, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
    • Well, I do understand that part, it's just that what should I do then? Do I still have to send the email to OTRS, even when it says the owner of the picture has to state they licensed their images as CC BY-SA 3.0 and I have to resend that email? They just told me via facebook comments I could do it because they wished I could upload them. --Edjoerv (talk) 21:17, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

File:Rebels 1995 NCAA win over Georgia - Ali Hamadeh.jpg

This photo was given to me by Ali Hamadeh who was a former colleague. I have no contact with him now and can therefore not provide any rights for this file. By all means delete it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Corneredmouse (talk • contribs) 12:58, 24 July 2015‎ (UTC)

Was this the wrong email address to use or is wikipedia administration somewhat fractured?

Oleg Polyakov's photo

Hi, you recently notified me that this photo does not have a legal permission for publication. In fact the photo's description does contain a link to the original publication of the photo in Facebook where its author indicates that he does want this photo published in Wikipedia. The discussion is, however, in Russian, as the photo was initially intended for the Russian and Ukrainian Wikipedia. Doesn't it suffice? --Dmitri Lytov (talk) 12:41, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

That link is leading directly to photo, and there is no link to discussion. --Smooth_O (talk) 12:52, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
I see. Here's the corrected link (I made a respective correction in the photo's description). I'll appreciate your suggestion if the format needs improvement (extra tags, etc.) --Dmitri Lytov (talk) 13:29, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

Coyote images resolved

Hi there

thanks for your diligence in following up on the coyote images. Will Higgs has emailed you today and listed a total of 5 images that he shared with me and that I uploaded here.

Regarding my user name and places to have such discussions. I have been granted permission to keep my dmccabe user name so the user:Dmccabe~commonswiki should be deleted. I just wanted follow up on the coyotes so I'm messaging you here. I removed the deletion tags from the images. I pasted a copy of the email from Will Higgs below. Is there more I need to to to protect the images? They are part of a larger project: http://wikieducator.org/Digital_Coyote

I Will Higgs am happy to hereby release all rights to the five images I shared with Declan McCabe under a CC BY SA 3.0 agreement as described here: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ This release applies only to the following six images previously uploaded with my permission by Declan McCabe: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:TopCoyote98120.jpg https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Coyote98120ventral.jpg https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Kansas_coyote_dorsal.jpg https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Canis_latrans_skulls&fileuntil=Specimen+131213001+bottom.JPG#/media/File:Kansas_coyote_left.jpg https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Canis_latrans_skulls&fileuntil=Specimen+131213001+bottom.JPG#/media/File:Kansas_coyote_right.jpg https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Canis_latrans_skulls&fileuntil=Specimen+131213001+bottom.JPG#/media/File:Kansas_coyote_ventral.jpg

I can be reached under my user name: Dmccabe (talk) 14:17, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

I added a note with Wil's email to one image. Is this necessary or useful? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:TopCoyote98120.jpg Dmccabe (talk) 14:21, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

Several permission requests

Hello Smooth O! The permission for the pictures was sent to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org on 2014-11-14. This information is written at the File pages. --JPF (talk) 20:16, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

The subject was "hola bondia". Artur wrote: "mr. fischer is allowed to load up the photos at wikimedia under license CC-BY-SA-30. l the photograph." Two days before, he sent the photos to me directly. I still have the mail in my backup. I can resend all three mails, if needed. --JPF (talk) 20:33, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
Hello Smooth O: Did you find the mails? --JPF (talk) 14:27, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
About the images of Natália Carrascalão Antunes: The permission was sent in Feb. 2012. I do not have the mails in my backup anymore. Three years after upload it is a little bit difficult to retrace the former dialogue. It seems like someone is not working very well with the permission mails. Please inform me, if you can not find the permission mails anymore. I would have to ask ambassador Natália Carrascalão Antunes one more time for permission. --JPF (talk) 14:43, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

Did you find something? --JPF (talk) 10:22, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

I am not OTRS volunteer, so i don't have that permission. Please write to Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard. --Smooth_O (talk) 11:09, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
I do not think, it is a nice way to put strange templates into files, while it is not your job to check it and you can not even do that. --JPF (talk) 18:25, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Hello, please see User_talk:Leyo/Archive3#File:Lina_Ben_Mhenni3.jpg, where the theme was discusssed then. Thank you, --Stefan Bellini (talk) 03:56, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

It's ok, but admins only need to confirm that license is suitable because photo is from external source. --Smooth_O (talk) 07:27, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. --Stefan Bellini (talk) 09:49, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
done. --Indeedous (talk) 23:34, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

I don't understand, what is missing there? Permission is there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.156.187.126 (talk • contribs) 16:08, 2 August 2015‎‎ (UTC)

This photo don't fall in any of copyright exempt in Kazakhstan law. It is neither official document, State emblem and official sign, work of folklore nor communications concerning events and facts that have an informational character, as stated in Template:PD-KZ-exempt. --Smooth_O (talk) 15:05, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
But what with article from law : "communications concerning events and facts that have an informational character" ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.156.171.105 (talk • contribs) 15:34, 3 August 2015‎ (UTC)
Wikimedia Commons does not accept derivative works of non-free works such as File:NzE-passport.jpg. File:Vlasic milk domaci vlasicki kajmak.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

[16]: No objection (except for increasing the backlog, grr, I'm a license reviewer myself), just a general rule - should I ask for license review for my uploads myself? When and when not? --GRuban (talk) 17:36, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

I am not sure, but in my opinion, as a reviewer, you can review this file even if you are uploader. --Smooth_O (talk) 10:27, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
No, I really shouldn't, but that's not what I was asking. I wanted to know what made you think this file, out of all the others uploaded at mostly the same time, needed license review. If I know (and agree), then I'll know to ask for license review on other files like it. --GRuban (talk) 00:39, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
I was searching for files sourced from various video websites, because most of those files are copyrighted, but stated here on Commons as CC. --Smooth_O (talk) 07:35, 7 August 2015 (UTC)

Regarding license review

I'm sorry, but why were your edits at File:Marfan Patient.jpeg needed? I've uploaded thousands of images and have been autoreviewed for over two years. CFCF (talk) 15:05, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Becaues photo is from external website and it license needs to be reviewed by admin or a reviewer. --Smooth_O (talk) 07:25, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
No, that is completely wrong. Could you link any policy or tell me why this hasn't ever been taken up with any other of my thousands of images from external websites? CFCF (talk) 10:50, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
