Hello. I just deleted this upload of yours because the original Youtube video you extracted this image from has not been released under a free licence. That means you cannot use their content for your own derivative images. Regards, De728631 (talk) 22:05, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

On ANNA News' website, they state that their videos are filed under Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0. When I emailed them a long time ago on permission to use it, they allowed me to post it as Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported. SkoraPobeda (talk) 22:12, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but it's not sufficient that they mailed you. In such cases we need a confirmation from the copyright holder sent to Commons via COM:OTRS. If you still have their mail archived somewhere you could, however, forward it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. De728631 (talk) 22:24, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I will probably do that then. These images are 100% free as stated by ANNA News themselves. SkoraPobeda (talk) 22:31, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That would be much appreciated. Once the OTRS team has processed your mail, the image will be restored. De728631 (talk) 22:36, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is the same situation as above, i. e. the Youtube release is unfree and copyrighted. If this video was posted at mil.ru before, please provide a direct link to that site so we can be sure that the Creative Commons licence you claim is valid. De728631 (talk) 22:09, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

All videos created by the Russian Ministry of Defense are posted on YouTube, and when they do post a video on their website, it is linked directly to YouTube. Their website states "© Все материалы интернет-портала Минобороны России доступны по лицензии Creative Commons Attribution 4.0" meaning that all materials related to the website are under that license. SkoraPobeda (talk) 22:17, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well, technically this licence is only valid for content they do post on their own website. It is not a general licence for anything they create. So please try to add a link to mil.ru where they show these videos with a CC licence note. De728631 (talk) 22:27, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for notifying me of this problem, when I copy and pasted the set up from another video, I forgot to replace the url and time stamp. I also appreciate you reviewing my images, I fixed the other two that I uploaded yesterday as well. SkoraPobeda (talk) 05:15, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've reviewed those three. You should tag video clip uploads with {{LicenseReview}}. Getting these reviewed quickly helps us to make sure this material is safe on Commons in case the videos get taken down at the source, or the license is changed to a non-free one. File Uploading request: Donetsk's diplomatic missions[edit]

  • Hi, I just found your upload with South Front. It's a great attempt for Russian news. South Front is Russian news??
Anyway, I was writing the DNR's diplomacy. I didn't find any photo of DNR's diplomatic mission in Crimea, Italy and Czech Republic on wiki commons.
and I have no time to ask the Ministry of foreign affairs for copyright and I can't speak Russian at all.
So let's make things easy. Please upload those photos so I can use for Chinese Wikipedia.

Gratitude.--Beta Lohman (talk) 04:33, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Beta Lohman, it's interesting to meet a person trying to spread this information for the Chinese Wikipedia. South Front is a project to help bring the Russian and Syrian perspectives from the conflicts. It isn't necessarily Russian news, since it has volunteers working there from many different countries. Also, it's not owned by the Russian government as some people try claiming. As for the pictures, the only ones I was able to find of the DNR diplomatic missions in the Czech Republic and Italy are these 12. Here's my problem though, the images I upload are mostly either through the fair use "Creative Commons 3.0", "Creative Commons 4.0" licenses. But even though I received South Front's permission, there's still the risk of it getting deleted. Other images of mine related to me getting permission were tagged for deletion for not having "the right license". If you look above, you'll see I got deletion notifications for many of my ANNA News images. Four of them got deleted just yesterday, and I couldn't do anything about it. I have not yet resolved this issue with Wikimedia Commons, hopefully I can eventually get them restored. After I do, then I can happily upload your request of the diplomatic images. SkoraPobeda (talk) 06:29, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well, but I can see there are still 3 ways:
  1. Try to make a screen shot with higher resolution from Youtube, like File:Vikings Battalion infantry.png. The diplomatic mission is well known from Russian medias like Novorossia TV, Novorossia Today, DONi Donbass News Agency. They all have videos on Youtube Channel.
  2. Flickr license if there is any photo with CC2.0?
  3. Contact the media worker of Novorossia TV. This news agency has many reports about the Donetsk's diplomacy, some photos as well.--Beta Lohman (talk) 15:51, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The channels of Novorossia TV and DONi Donbass News Agency use the non-free "Standard YouTube License" for all of their videos. This Vikings Battalion image I created earlier this year was on Gennadiy Dubovoy's channel, which occasionally uses "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)". I cannot ask Novorossia TV for the images because it will eventually be deleted unless they help with getting the permission to Wikimedia Commons. That is what I am trying to get ANNA News to do first. As for Flickr, I do not have an account. But I can try to figure out the licensing rules about it within a few days (because I am busy at the moment with the New Year celebration.) If I see that I can safely upload the DNR diplomacy missions through Flickr without them getting deleted, then I can try to upload them. SkoraPobeda (talk) 04:13, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
So I just checked the rules with Flickr. Unfortunately, it won't work either. Flickr rules state that "some Flickr users may upload images they don't have the rights to and then incorrectly license those images as free. When Commons users with Flickr accounts do this in an attempt to upload non-free photos to Commons, this is known as Flickr washing. Questionable Flickr images lists Flickr users and discussions where we have concluded that certain images marked as freely licensed on Flickr are too questionably licensed for Wikimedia Commons." So basically, they will include me in a list if I try to upload those non-free images of the diplomacy missions, and then eventually delete the images. I'm sorry that I can't help with this, Wikimedia Commons is just very strict with copyright adherence. If you find any news videos with "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" instead of "Standard YouTube License" (which you find in the description box), I can take a screenshot of the video and upload it. This is what I have been doing with most of my uploads. SkoraPobeda (talk) 16:45, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This is an interesting idea. That group you found is the Google+ version of Novorossiya TV. I can try to find their email and just ask for them to change the license on those specific videos, and possibly even other ones in order to get more free images onto Wikipedia. I'll let you know once I find out more information. SkoraPobeda (talk) 21:06, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I know its been a while since I last messaged, so I just wanted to say for now that I am waiting for a reply from Novorossiya TV. SkoraPobeda (talk) 04:15, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I may get an email back from Novorossia TV soon though. If I can just have them change the license of the videos, it would be better. Also, I don't see any videos about the diplomatic missions on the DONi Donbass News Agency YouTube channel, all of the titles are in English too. SkoraPobeda (talk) 05:04, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Good news. I got a reply, and they are allowing me to choose the videos where I want them to change the license. After I do that, I will make the pictures. SkoraPobeda (talk) 16:12, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have made five images relating to the DPR delegation in Venice, and one separate image of the Foreign Affairs Ministry emblem. I'll upload the ones relating to the Czech Republic later, I hope you like these new ones. 1 2 3 4 5 6 There's also descriptions that I added for each of them, which explains more about the people in the images. SkoraPobeda (talk) 04:46, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I think Novorossia TV should upload their English-speaking Videos. It's hard to find some information when you don't understand Russian.--Beta Lohman (talk) 12:28, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
They have some English speaking videos on their World channel. But there's none related to the delegations. SkoraPobeda (talk) 17:02, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

About the New uploads[edit]

Hey, Pobeda. No, That's not the photos I am gonna use with. By the way, where is the Venetian? Is that a country? I need to clarify the details which belongs to DNR.

  1. embassy sign or Representative office sign in Italy, Czech.
  2. Building appearance of Consulate (diplomatic missions...don't know their name, maybe an office) in Ostrava[1].
  3. The diplomat's photo.

--Beta Lohman (talk) 12:06, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, I will upload the Czech ones later, one of the pictures will be the Czech/DPR Representative Center sign (there were no signs for the Venice one). I'll have two individual pictures of those women you linked in the Czech delegation picture, and I will give a description on them too. I don't know if I'll be able to get a picture of the building appearance, because the video doesn't show which exact building they are in. Venetian means the people of Venice. Venice is a city in Italy (I originally thought they represented Veneto, which is a republic/region inside Italy). Venice is where the DPR representatives went first in their international travels. They got recognized by the city of Venice, and I showed you pictures of four different diplomats/representatives with detailed English descriptions. The DPR's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kofman. And three Italian representatives; Bertolazi, Comencini and Dzokatelli There are also detailed pictures of them sitting at the table, and holding the other delegation's flag as a sign of respect. I'm confused why you can't use any of these pictures from the Venice delegation, because that's the best I can do with Italy. SkoraPobeda (talk) 17:29, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The building appearance is like this, the office of North Cyprus, London with the flag.--Beta Lohman (talk) 20:06, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, so I just uploaded five images. Two of them 1 2 are actually in Ostrava when the center was opened, the other three are in Donetsk when it was announced to be opened 1 2 3 The Czech building which the press conference happened in is not in any of the Novorossiya TV videos. Same thing goes for the Venice delegation for Turin, there are no videos related to that. Some of these pictures I feel can still be used for the DPR diplomatic missions in the article you are writing. That's the best I could do, I know it's not how you originally wanted, but it's better than nothing. SkoraPobeda (talk) 18:20, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, a little thank. I will erase the logo by software later.--Beta Lohman (talk) 10:07, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

About the war in Ukraine[edit]

  • Hey, I noticed some news about Ukraine is in tension again. Why did that happen? I know Ukraine has given a special priority autonomy to Donetsk and Lugansk. But the shooting begins, why do they open fire to each side?? There is no report here I found, do you have further information?--Beta Lohman (talk) 17:26, 2 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
So basically since January 28th, there has been a sharp escalation in the fighting. The reason for this is that the Poroshenko regime is not interested in the fulfillment of the Minsk II agreements, and they want to blame all the escalation on Russia. From the direction of Avdiivka, they made multiple breakthrough attempts on the DPR cities of Donetsk and Makiivka. As of January 31st, Ukrainian forces shelled DPR residential areas, a power station (which cutoff electricity) to some districts and cutoff electricity from the Zasyadko coal mine. All of this information, including high Ukrainian casualties from the morgues are available, and won't be reported by most "reliable sources". Right Sector went as far as firing at their own Ukrainian soldiers in Avdiivka, and they are responsible for the water, electricity, and no heat crisis in the city right now. Here are two South Front videos related to this matter, 1 2 If you want recent English articles about it, I recommend seeing this website. It's definitely not considered as "reliable" on Wikipedia, but it has information that is being censored on CNN, ABC, Fox, BBC and all other typical news. If the escalation doesn't stop, we might see large-scale offensives soon, similar to the 2015 Battle of Debaltseve. And of course we know who they will blame on all of this, Putin! SkoraPobeda (talk) 20:02, 2 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ukraine started mostly receiving $1 billion loans from the IMF since their February 2014 coup d'etat. That doesn't mean they have plenty of money now, they use it to repay for their old debts to the IMF and others. The IMF is not supposed to give any country loans when they are in a state of war. But since Ukraine's government claims this is an "Anti-Terrorist Operation", they can legally give them loans. Even though this is ridiculous, since it's clearly a civil war. The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:
  • use in any work, regardless of content
  • creation of derivative works

  • free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Donetsk and Lugansk wasn't on the list[edit]

The Russian government even recognize the Donetsk Passport. I can't figure out the reason. --Beta Lohman (talk) 22:59, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That is true about the DPR and LPR passports being recognized by Russia. However, Russia has never officially recognized the Donetsk or Lugansk People's Republics as countries. Even though they help them both openly and covertly, they officially recognize their territory according to the Minsk II agreement as two self-governing regions in Ukraine. This will probably change over time, especially if the War in Donbass were to escalate in the future.
On the bottom of the List of limited states article, we can see a section called "Excluded Entities", a part of it says: "Rebel groups which have declared independence and exert some control over territory, but which reliable sources do not describe as meeting the threshold of a sovereign state under international law. Examples include Donetsk People's Republic, Luhansk People's Republic, Kachin Independence Army and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant." As much as I don't like seeing the DPR and LPR being grouped in with terrorists like ISIS, they were included among many different rebel groups in the world. There were already disputes a few times on the List of limited states article's talk page over whether to include them or not, and all of the times it was decided that they wouldn't include them. SkoraPobeda (talk) 23:53, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Technically the so-called "Anti-Terrorist Operation" is still ongoing. There are small skirmishes and artillery shelling occasionally. But yes, essentially Donetsk and Lugansk for the time being agreed in the Minsk II that they are parts of Ukraine, just with self-governing territory. But since Ukraine hasn't and won't comply with Minsk II (which includes giving the DPR and LPR special status under point 11 in Minsk II), the Donbass has to patiently endure this stalemate while the West blames Russia for slowing the ceasefire process. Even though they suspended the Novorossiya project in order to preserve the Minsk II a bit longer. This is all just to buy time, true analysts don't believe for one minute that Donbass will be under Ukrainian control after the violent way this civil war started in 2014. Even though Russia doesn't officially recognize them yet, they also will not give up on them. SkoraPobeda (talk) 22:12, 20 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

About Donetsk's embassies[edit]

  • Hi, I have some news from different sources. The embassies of Donetsk People's Republic are open. In France[4] and Athens[5].
  1. When did France and Greece recognize Donetsk's Republic?
  2. In the near future, will it not exist that a state called Ukraine?

--Beta Lohman (talk) 16:33, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In the France article there is a line that reads "Local French official Géral-Hubert Favart has agreed to help Donetsk set up the office due to lack of official support from the EU or French governments which do not recognize the sovereignty of the Donetsk or Lugansk People’s Republics." So to answer the first question, neither France or Greece recognized the Donetsk People's Republic. It's through the help of local people like that French official or the Greek professor Andreas Zafiris that they opened. I would consider these "embassies" as just buildings where people can help donate or learn about the DPR through a non-EU perspective. As for the second question, I don't know if Ukraine will stay as one country in the future. Some analysts like Rostislav Ishchenko predict that it may breakup like Yugoslavia did, but with an even larger war that divides the country up. Of course that is the worst case scenario, only time (a few years) will tell what happens to Ukraine and the DPR/LPR. Same way with Syria, I've been studying that war closely since 2012. Never did I expect it to drag out this long, with so many countries getting their armed forces involved in it. SkoraPobeda (talk) 19:40, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Did Ukraine abolish Russian language?[edit]

Hi, I read some news from Ukraine. It says the Ukrainian parliament is going to abolish the Russian language in education. Do you have related news?--Beta Lohman (talk) 10:53, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This action by the Ukrainian parliament already happened on September 5th, 2017. Until the beginning of 2019, the Russian language will remain in Ukrainian elementary schools. As of this year, all classes after 5th grade must be taught in the Ukrainian language. Before this fascist law of course, there used to be schools in Ukraine that were taught only in the Russian language for their large ethnic minority in Ukraine. Half of the country speaks Russian anyway, but this is just another stupid law that will one day in the distant future be reversed. The Mykolaiv oblast (region) was prevented by the Ukrainian SBU (intelligence services, also their Gestapo) in buying Russian school buses. More of that information is in this article. The Russian consulate closed[edit]

  • I have some information. The U.S. closed the Russian consulate in Seattle. Russian closed the American consulate in St. Petersburg as the diplomacy revenge. I was wondering how many Russian consulates closed on the event and What consulate? --Beta Lohman (talk) 03:46, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not sure about the poisoning event and some western countries stand side with U.K. It's weird that last thing the Russian embassy closed is 2008 after the war in South Ossetia. Russian is the biggest country, I was wondering is it a diplomatically rich country, too? --Beta Lohman (talk) 03:50, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I've been busy in the past couple of weeks. The Russian consulate in Seattle was the only consulate that was closed. The timing of this poisoning event and the dubious evidence of Novichok being used without an open investigation shows how it is meant to accuse Russia of things to make relations worse. I guess you could say they are diplomatically rich. Russia uses diplomacy first and military options last, it's not in their best interests to be entangled in more complicated conflicts with countries. Is the tension in Crimea calm?[edit]

Hi Beta Lohman. By no means is the Ukrainian military ready to occupy Crimea. If this were the case, they would have defeated the DPR and LPR by now. Let's not forget that the Russian military is very powerful and advanced, with Crimea being their Black Sea fortress essentially. The Kerch Strait incident with the three small Ukrainian ships was a provocation by Poroshenko in order to try to postpone the Ukrainian presidential elections in March 2019. He tried originally to have the sailors killed in order to convince Ukrainians that they need to declare martial law in all of Ukraine for 60 days. But since all three ships surrendered and weren't willing to die for their corrupt president, the Ukrainian parliament (Verkhovna Rada) was against this and made the martial law for 30 days in only 10 of Ukraine's regions. Poroshenko will look for an excuse to extend martial law by all means (including possibly attacking Donbass again), because he is desperate to cling to power at this point. So to answer your question, the situation in Crimea is calm, but in Donbass it isn't. If you have the time to read more detailed information on this, I would highly recommend you reading these two analysis': aftermath of incident full details, Poroshenko's actions was bad for himself.
For other details related to this, here is the background prior to incident, video of Russian warship ramming into Ukrainian one, Ukrainian secret document on their plan to cause this, confession and translation of captured Ukrainian sailors and FSB report on it. SkoraPobeda (talk) 18:31, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have a question. Why did the Ukrainian government ban all Russian men into the country? It has nothing to do with the election?--Beta Lohman (talk) 01:11, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's more signs of desperation and slow breakup of the Poroshenko regime. They are using it as a distraction from real issues inside the country; such as a lack of heating in some cities despite the upcoming winter season. The propaganda there is saying this will now stop Russians from entering the country (or private armies from forming) to fight Ukraine in Donbass. But this won't even stop that, since Russian volunteers usually enter from the DPR/LPR-Russia border anyways. And also, the fact they included ages 16-60 is such a wide age gap, that it will be even more obvious for everyone of it being a Russophobic law. Even the British The Guardian admits that Russian women are also being stopped, clearly this is all to further provoke anger. SkoraPobeda (talk) 02:21, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SkoraPobeda, the following content you uploaded violates one or more of our policies and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:

File:Syrian Sinotruk Howo.png

The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:
  • use in any work, regardless of content
  • creation of derivative works
  • commercial use
  • free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.

And also:

Yours sincerely, — Racconish💬 07:25, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Representative Office of South Ossetia, Donetsk[edit]

  • I have a question. I wrote an article to focus on the diplomatic mission in Donetsk. But it seems outdated now. I am gonna ask that did South Ossetia promoted the representative office to an embassy? I can't read any article in Russian. If you have further information, feel free to tell me. It had better be an English source.--Beta Lohman (talk) 13:58, 23 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No, it seems to still be a representative office. This article in English shows the date when the Donetsk People's Republic was recognized by South Ossetia, being June 27, 2014. I could even add that portion to the article if you want. Other than this, there's not really much of a point for South Ossetia to upgrade the office into an embassy when South Ossetia itself is not widely recognized internationally. Ukraine will start to shut down Russian schools since 2020?[edit]

Yes, I wouldn't doubt it. Even cities like Chernivtsy have laws where Ukrainian is enforced to be spoken in public. I've heard stories that if Russian is spoken and heard by the police, the person gets fined. So I believe this school language law is most likely true. Zelensky's new government doesn't make a difference. SkoraPobeda (talk) 15:29, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Shocked, the anti-Russian policy doesn't change even Ukraine has changed its government. How come? --Beta Lohman (talk) 16:06, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's because although the faces of presidents change, the internal neo-Nazi forces stayed the same. It doesn't matter if the president is now a Ukrainian Jew, he has to appease the powerful Nazis that are more stronger than the Ukrainian military itself. If you want in depth details on what's been going on in Ukraine this year, I highly recommend you reading two analysis about it. One from July and another from 2 days ago. The American consulates will be all shut down?[edit]

  • I heard some news. Since COVID-19 or any political reason as I was still seeking. The consulates of the United Sates will be all removed. Only the embassy will be left. Dose it mean Joe Biden will push out the anti-Russian policy? --Beta Lohman (talk) 22:32, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The only news I see of it is the US saying that they themselves would shut down the other consulates in December, before Trump left office. Joe Biden is a very anti-Russian president, that is something that is without a doubt. But the consulates being closed has no correlation with the US getting more aggressive towards Russia, that was already going to happen anyway. They already tried doing their typical color revolution tactics recently by using Navalny and his supporters to protest Putin. They failed already, since the protests were very minor and unpopular. If you want to see more details as to the policy of Russia towards the US in 2021, check out this analysis. SkoraPobeda (talk) 19:47, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • A source from Novorossiya TV has been removed [6]. I probably know why. The Russia Today news seems to be seen a bias of pro-Russian propaganda .
By the way, did you know where the community which talked about it on the English wiki?
I was still seeking a new reliable source and see if I can edit. However, that seems difficult cause I believe the RT was the first media who reported how Novorossiya TV established on Donetsk. --Beta Lohman (talk) 03:00, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
On Wikipedia it's pointless to search for any pro-Russian sources that are viewed as reliable. Most if not all are labelled as propaganda. I don't know where the discussion of nominating RT as an unreliable source is. SkoraPobeda (talk) 01:53, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lots of delete requests[edit]

Hello, there have been a lot of requests for deletion of files involving DPR and LPR recently. I've even seen single author uploads flagged as Russian propaganda. Is it possible that these files will be deleted? As a result, the bilateral relations entry will lack the Donetsk flag.--Beta Lohman (talk) 05:25, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The first link you showed me is an old discussion in which I helped preserve the flags and insignias of DPR/LPR because they were being threatened with deletion. This new request is done by another Ukrainian, who is acting on the basis of POV that all those files are propaganda. I will give my input on there.
