Hull[edit]

Well, I doubt NilfaBot will be putting any more in the cat for the time being. However, note that {{Uncategorized-Geograph}} which the bot retains default sorts the files to Z, instead of to File. If they get sorted to F, then every subcat after File: is lost on the first page (as is any manually checked images - Hull isn't a meta cat and should contain some things when there isn't a better home for them).

For example, check Category:Wolverhampton, there's over a thousand pics there, but all the subcategories and all the manually sorted pics (like the Coat of Arms) are in the first 200. Likewise the files placed in Kingston Upon Hull did not hide the subcategories. Therefore the reason for the temporary category isn't really true, but if it makes it easier for you to sort the files I will dump them there.

Also, a pure maintenance category like Category:Kingston upon Hull (uncategorised) is a temporary category, and should not normally be used for categorized content. If you cannot find a better category for an image relating to Hull, leave it in the root category; this isn't really an appropriate edit. Reason for that: People looking for that may find it in the Hull cat, but will never look for it in the Uncategorised cat, making the file redundant. If you have to "get it out" of the Hull category, put it into something more appropriate like say Culture of Kingston upon Hull, which could include the theatres too for instance?--Nilfanion (talk) 10:04, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - another question on your talk page.Sf5xeplus (talk) 20:27, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
At a guess with respect to the pantomine advert (or whatever it is), my assumption is that it is for a pantomime that was held in Hull - the footnote indicates it was printed by Mr Ferraby of Hull, who was also someone selling the tickets - which strongly suggests the event was in the town. And when I said "for the time being", that's a temporary thing, it will go back there when another Hull grid square appears on my to-do list. When the upload is finished, I'll do a systematic sweep of the country - but silly to start that before its done. Ultimately, NilfaBot will check every square and sort out the ones it can.--Nilfanion (talk) 21:13, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
