Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Removing categories

Hi Sascha! Thank you for your work on Commons, but as you might have seen, I just reverted two of your edits. The general rule is to not take off categories unless they are completely incorrect, or if you are replacing it with something better. There is a large pile of uncategorised files already, and you don't want to add to this. Files like File:30yraccumUS.jpg or File:Accumulering.jpg will be lost if you take off the "Compost" category. The image is clearly related to compost & composting process, and should not be removed. If you feel that there is a need for a seperate category for those types of images, create it: composting process diagrams, composting diagrams, or diagrams about composting (-- find out what the prevalent form is for that type of category before you create it --) and put it under Composting and check Category:Diagrams by subject or Category:Biology_diagrams or something similar where it would fit best. Hi again & thanks for creating a category. I have added another file that I found, and that file was in the "Agricultural diagrams" category, which might be a good fit for the whole lot? File: Geckolepis megalepis.png

The old image of File:Geckolepis megalepis.png is better than image that you upload. If you want to upload this image, you can upload in a new file. Mr. Fulano (talk) 17:53, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

No, the Wikidata is other history. The Wikidata image is changed in Wikidata, and not here. And if you want upload a cropped version, you need create a new file, and not changing the image. I'm not being agressive, I just talk that isn't necessary change the image, because is a original photo. And The collage is importante because it's shows the animal with and without scales, as the specie is notory for lose your scales easily. Mr. Fulano (talk) 21:56, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

It's not normal here in Commons to overwrite collages with individual images. Mr. Fulano was absolutely correct in reverting you. Please don't do that again, or harsher measures will have to be taken to avoid further reverts.-- Darwin ^Ahoy! 01:36, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

@DarwIn: I've learnt my lession (see my comment in portuguese Wikipedia). But if you take a look at articles about living creatures, it's not normal to show a collage in the infobox. I've wanted to fix this and nothing else. I know that I have no right to meddle in Mr. Fulanos uploads.--Sascha GPD (talk) 11:06, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

Ammonia

Hi! I've seen you removed Category:Ammonia from File:Les Plantes Cultivades. Cereals. Imatge 300.jpg and File:Les Plantes Cultivades. Cereals. Imatge 301.jpg. They are images of straw being treated with ammonia, so I think they would fit better in a subcategory called "uses of ammonia" or the like, but meanwhile in "ammonia". It's similar to images of crops treated with some substance that are categorized within that substance's category, for illustration purposes (example1, example2, etc.). @Aleator: Hi Aleator, categories should only contain the thing, after which they are named and no related files. You're right, that other images of effects are also contained in substance categories, but this is rather due to low maintenance here at Commons.

For fertilizers there is Category:Effects of fertilizers and for herbicides there is Category:Effects of herbicides, so we may create a category called Category:Effects of ammonia. But for File:Les Plantes Cultivades. Cereals. Imatge 300.jpg and File:Les Plantes Cultivades. Cereals. Imatge 301.jpg I'm reluctant to put them in this category, because they just show piles of straw bales with no visible proof, that they were ever treated with anything. You are right. The image is just a "related to" image, instead of being a "main concept" image. It's the search engine who has to find very specific subjects that still don't fit in an own category. Best regards. -Aleator (talk) 17:49, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
