File:Ladyhawke.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

but what was wrong???
- Hello, You don't have the permission to publish this image on Wikimedia Commons, so it is a copyright violation. Yann (talk) 20:10, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- Wikimedia Commons is for Public Domain images or images released to GNU or Sharealike. Image must be able to be used by others with attribution to copyright holder as images on Wikimedia still have a copyright unless clearly in the public Domain.
- Use Wikipedia to upload low resolution "Fair Use" images only if it will be used in a specific article with full fair use rational given on the upload page. Image must be of low resolution as to not hinder the copyright holders ability to benefit from their work or replace or override the images specific use by the copyright holder.--Amadscientist (talk) 19:14, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- Amadscientist explains it quite clearly. In short, you can publish your images on Commons 1. if you are the photographer, 2. if it is a work by the US government (NASA, etc.), or 3. if the image is really old (pre 1923 if it is a work from USA). In most others cases, you need a written permission from the photographer and/or the creator of the work (sculpture, painting, etc.). If you need any help, please don't hesitate to ask me.
