Thanks for the quick reply. I am a bit worried about the copyright status of the file, considering that the image metadata credits "TERRY WILSON" as the author, who does not appear to have any connection to the en.wiki user (Goldenmotto) who uploaded the file. Also note this photo on English Wikipedia, which the same user (Goldenmotto) also claims as his/her own, although it is credited to "Jason Ransom", a different photographer. After doing a little more digging, these files appear to be copyright violations, so perhaps I need to take down the "missing permission" tag and add the "copyvio" one? Would you mind taking a second look at this file (and Goldenmotto's other images) and letting me know what you think and how best to proceed? Thanks. All the best! @Michael Barera: After reviewing their contribution on English Wikipedia, I believe it is safe to assume both of these images are copyright violations. Ironically, both these images were reviewed by a human for transfer to Commons. Since the uploader is inactive, this transferred file should be tagged for speedy deletion instead of waiting for permission. -- sami  ^talk 02:37, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
