Saludos. --Dodecaedro (talk) 08:59, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Corregido, he colocado la nueva versión del mapa. Un saludo.--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 09:07, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi Rowanwindwhistler, the dates on Rheta Childe Dorr are not correct, since you where the uploader, can I change them, or will you do it? Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 08:28, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Hello, feel free to change anything you see it is wrong. Thank you!--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 09:22, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Imagen

Nazca pottery photos

Thanks for contributing all these photos of very fine Nazca pottery. They look like museum displays: are they all from one museum? Which museum(s)? Thanks, --Pete Tillman (talk) 02:26, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

I took the pictures during a temporary exposition held in Madrid (this one). I guess the objects came from different museums... It seems that at least some (not sure if all of them) came from the Museo de Larco, en Peru.--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 05:28, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
Thanks. Looks like it was a great show! I was thinking of adding the museum to your photos, but that looks like too much work.... --Pete Tillman (talk) 06:25, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
Probably too much work indeed... I may have the captions for the objects somewhere but I would have to match them against the objects and that would probably mean matching more than a hundred objects, not really worth it...--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 06:58, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

Tiberioclaudio99 (talk) 19:43, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

Maps of First Indochina War

I recognized your spanish versions of the maps about the First Indochina War I made. I'm happy about that, but please be careful about the licence. The original had CC-by-sa 3.0, so it has to be the same and not 4.0.

I also wonder what you did about File:First Indochina War map 1946 to 1954 es.svg. Much of the content was lost in your last uploads of the file (compare with File:First Indochina War map 1946 to 1954 de.svg), so what happened there? --Don-kun (talk) 19:10, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

The license is actually the one Commons selects when uploading a file, I did not choose it, I simply left the one Commons chose at upload time. I have changed all the instances I found (I hope I did not leave any behind but I might). When I mark a file as a derivative of another one (even if I cannot do it in the wizard as I know of no option for it, unlike in the older (and better) one, but later), I expect Commons to apply any restrictions by itself. If the license cannot be changed (I have no problem with that), Commons must take care of ensuring that is so.
On the File:First Indochina War map 1946 to 1954 es.svg, I do not know what happened, probably I just deleted some areas by mistake while working on the map. I added them back.--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 05:37, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
I know Commons does that when uploading a file. So I always check the licence when creating a derivate. I agree that Commons should support that better and ensure proper licencing. --Don-kun (talk) 10:40, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
If my memory serves me well, the old upload form set the right license when you told it that the file being uploaded was a derivative of another one. As far as I know, that is not there any more in the new (and worse) wizard). From my point of view, the check should be automatic and done by the Commons software itself once the file is marked as deriving from another one.--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 10:49, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
In File:First Indochina War map 1946 to 1954 es.svg there is one chronological inaccuracy. Could you remove the word Nacionalista and keep just the name China, because the Nationalists ceased to control the mainland by late 1949 and mainland China became the People's Republic of China in October 1949. The other countries in the map are only shown with their country names, not their full official names. For instance the German version of this map avoids this chronological inaccuracy. It is a matter of historical accuracy and consistency. 31.200.15.66 18:28, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
That is due to that map being a translation of another one (the one mentioned as source). Feel free to upload a new version.--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 06:50, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
I requested this from you, because I have no knowledge about SVG files. If you are not willing to correct this chronological inaccuracy, is it alright if I request a change from User:Don-Kun who originally uploaded the German version of this file? 31.200.13.46 14:08, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
Naturally, any one can modify the map as per its license. However I would rather recommend you to try and make the change yourself instead of involving another editor. Basically all you would need to do is:
  • Install inkscape (SVG manipulating program)
  • Open the map in inkscape
  • Open the layer list from the menu (if not already there)
  • Click the fake test layer and delete it by clicking the - icon below the list of layers
  • Click the eye icon on the real text layer to make it visible
  • Double-click on the text you want modified to make it editable and change whatever you need
  • Once the changes have been made, right-click on the text layer to show the layer menu and choose create a duplicate
  • Click on the eye icon to make the text layer invisible
  • Click on the duplicate text layer and do ctrl+a to select all its objects. All text will be selected.
  • Turn the text into a path by choosing Path->Object to path from the top menu.
  • Save the changes and upload the file as a new version of the map in Commons
You will see it is very very simple. It takes less than five minutes. I could certainly do it myself, but I would not like to give the impression I am available for file maintenance, even the ones I have uploaded to Commons...--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 15:14, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Mapas de al-Andalus

Hola Rowanwindwhistler.

«No quedar bien» no significa nada.

Thanks for uploading File:Territorio Ramon Berenguer IV-v2-es.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Spare me the "yours sincerely". Next time you see and error, instead of using the Manual of the Perfect Bureaucrat, fix it. All you had to do was to remove a pipe symbol if you were so concerned about the bloody license.--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 04:20, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

Map projections

Sorry. I do not know what projections are. I made my maps in Photoshop using layers. Basically, I find some original base map from Internet or scanned from a book. Then I open empty layer in Photoshop and I manually draw new map over the original one (on empty layer). Sometimes I have to use more than one base map on several background layers, but I also adjust their size and position manually. PANONIAN (talk) 11:23, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

No, source maps are not saying anything about projections. Try creating SVG map with different options and one of them just might work. Sorry for late answer. PANONIAN (talk) 10:21, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
