If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. File:Corrado Giustozzi e Ron Rivest 1999.jpg[edit]

Hi, for your information, my comment about the discussion Commons:Deletion requests/File:Corrado Giustozzi e Ron Rivest 1999.jpg, which was unfortunately speedily closed right before I could post it.

  • Comment: The description of the file says "Immagine inviata da Corrado Giustozzi" (Image sent by Corrado Giustozzi). Corrado Giustozzi is one of the two persons shown in the photo. The file was originally uploaded to the Italian Wikipedia website by User:NightGaunt, which is apparently a pseudonym used by Corrado Giustozzi, according to the Italian Wikipedia entry written by User:Agatino Grillo. Which poses two questions when the description page claims that User:NightGaunt is the author and the owner of the copyright. Firstly, there doesn't seem to be a mention of a VRT ticket or other evidence to ascertain that the Wikimedia account User:NightGaunt is indeed operated by Corrado Giustozzi. Secondly, it may not be obvious that this photo was taken by Corrado Giustozzi at the same time that he is shown in the photo. Anyway, it may be somewhat interesting for Corrado Giustozzi to have the photo used in his own page to show him briefly speaking with a known person. But IMHO the photo is rather useless and irrelevant in pages about Ronald Rivest. Probably the main reason why it was used there is because it was one of the first photos of Ronald Rivest available on Wikimedia, before better photos became available. @Ronald L. Rivest: So, although the file itself may be kept on Commons (if the closing admin believes that it was taken by Giustozzi and that User:NightGaunt is Giustozzi), you can however remove the display of the photo from the Wikidata page about Ronald Rivest (and from the Wikipedia pages about him, where it might be displayed). -- Asclepias (talk) 16:22, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
