Hoi Romaine,
HNY ! Best wishes. Peli (talk) 22:22, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Peli (talk) 23:12, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

January 2021[edit]

Hello Romaine, hopefully you are having a good day!

I have a request for you and hopefully you can help me with it. I've uploaded a file, an association football club kit pattern, at File:Kit body alittihad1920t.png designated to be for the 2019–20 season, but apparently the file I uploaded was for the current 2020–21 season and not the previous one, and I had to upload a different kit to replace it. I read that I should contact and adminstrator if I want a specific revision to be delete, so could you please help me by deleting the old revision in that file so I can re-upload that old file again with the correct name? Thanks in advance!

Best wishes, Ben5218 (talk) 21:52, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please participate in the Universal Code of Conduct consultation on Wikimedia Commons![edit]

Dear Romaine

Thank you for your hard work to create the sum of all knowledge that is freely sharable to every single human being across the world. As our diverse community grows, we need a guideline that will help all of our work collectively and constructively where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and part of a team. That is why the Wikimedia movement is working on establishing a global guideline called the Universal Code of Conduct, often referred to as UCoC.

After the months-long policy consultation, we have prepared a policy (available in many languages) that has been ratified by the Board of Trustees. We’re currently in the second phase of the process. During this round of consultation, we want to discuss the implementation of this policy. As a member of the functionary team of Wikimedia Commons, your opinion on enforcement is of great value. We want to hear from you on how this policy can be enforced on the Wikimedia Commons community and what might be needed to do so. There are a few enforcement questions so you can easily outline your answers based on them. Please do not hesitate to bring any more questions/challenges you think are not yet discussed.

The discussion is taking place on Commons:Universal Code of Conduct consultation. You can also share your thoughts by replying to this message (Please ping me so I get notified), posting your message on my talk page. I am aware that some thoughts cannot be expressed publicly, so you can always share your opinion by emailing me as well.

As a valued member of the Commons community, please share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences that relate to UCoC. Let us know what needs to be improved so we can build a more friendly and cooperative space to increase editor engagement and retention of new users.

Wikimedia projects are governed by you. So, it is you who needs to step up to ensure a safe, comfortable, and pleasant working environment.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you! Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 10:18, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a short survey regarding UCoC[edit]

Hello Romaine,

I would like to inform you that we now have a survey in place to take part in the UCoC consultation. It is not a long one and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. You can take the survey even if you have already participated in the on-wiki consultation. It has a different set of questions and allows you to participate anonymously and privately.

As a member of the Commons functionaries, your opinion is especially essential. Please click here to participate in the survey.

You are still welcome to participate in the on-wiki discussions. If you prefer you can have your say by sending me an email. You can also drop me an email if you want to have a one-to-one chat.

Thank you for your participation! Wikitanvir (WMF) 13:54, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Wiki Loves Earth 2021 in Belarus[edit]

Hello, dear Romaine! How are you? I am writing to you about Commons:Wiki Loves Earth 2021/CentralNotice#Belarus (by). I created a CentralNotice banner for Belarus on May 26th, but it hasn't appeared above the pages in Belarusian Wikipedias or elsewhere, when visiting from Belarus. The contest in Belarus started on June 1st & will continue until July 31st. Best wishes,--W (talk) 10:49, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi W, There is a CentralNotice banner up in Belarus which went live on 1 June. If you do not see a banner, there can be several causes why that happens.
  • A reason can be that someone visits the Belarus Wikipedia, while being abroad.
  • One reason that often occurs is someone recently has visited another country, and still the IP address from abroad is in the cookies of the browser. This can easily last until a month after being abroad. Solution: deletion of all Wikimedia cookies in the browser.
  • Another reason can be that the banner is not seen as someone masks his/her IP address, uses VPN, etc, so the software does not recognise the used IP address as from Belarus.
  • In some countries internet providers use IP addresses that are not recognised as being from that country, however I have no signals (so far) that this is the case for Belarus.
  • On some wikis local users have implemented in the common or personal css page a code to always hide certain banners.
I just tested the CentralNotice system by visiting Wikipedia from a IP address from Belarus, and I see the CentralNotice banner from Belarus appearing on top of Wikipedia. So I think one of the three first options is likely the case. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 13:53, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Earth 2021 in Turkey[edit]

Moving a campaign[edit]

Hello, Romaine. In the Telegram group, I have been recommended to ask you. The campaign "No municipality without a photograph" (currently Campaign:nmsf for Spain) is now international, at least for es-speaking countries, but we want to keep the existing national campaigns (Spain and also Argentina), and for that we are considering moving their campaigns, in particular nmsf to nmsf-es, and then use nmsf in the rest of the countries. So I would like your advice: Would the category "Uploaded via Campaign:nmsf" be automatically moved? Would it be necessary to change the category in all the images using a bot? Is there any other technical reason that would discourage the move? Thanks in advance for your help and regards, -jem- (talk) 12:25, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Monuments in Peru[edit]

Hello Romaine, I hope you are well. I am writing to ask you how to modify the dates to show the upload button of the event for Peru, since the Wiki Loves Monuments will be held during the month of October in Peru, as it has been modified here. Regards --Ovruni (talk) 05:02, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ovruni, Thank you for your notification! I was aware of the issue. When I got a notification of this situation yesterday by e-mail, I immediately switched off the banner. However I left the upload wizard for what it was (as participants only see the upload wizard when they do not read the instructions on the project page) as I was very tired after a course I had yesterday evening + the WLM marathon. I just updated it and now also the upload wizard and other infrastructure is now up to date as well. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 09:21, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bonjour,

Wiki loves monuments in Qatar[edit]

hi romaine tanks for the reminding, i fixed the landing page please check :) --Bachounda (talk) 08:12, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bachounda, Thank you for the changes! I will enable the banner now. Romaine (talk) 11:25, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Bachounda: Why is the landing page not translated into Arabic? Romaine (talk) 11:28, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

categories for qatar[edit]

hi again need to fix categorie for qatar during upload wizard on the page

|categories=Images_from_Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2021_in_Qatar

Such contest categories are automatically added by the Wiki Loves Monuments 2021 template and should never be added manually. If you know a place where this is added manually, please let me know so I can fix it! Romaine (talk) 11:25, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Can you please provide a translation into Arabic (and maybe other languages) for Template:Historical Monument Qatar. Thanks! Romaine (talk) 11:26, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Romaine, I added arabic lg to this template Template:Historical Monument Qatar, however until now cant see the automatic category https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Images_from_Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2021_in_Qatar
We seen https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Cultural_heritage_monuments_in_Qatar -- we have this category in its place and that does not allow to put as you know the images of the contest in the right order the Wiki Loves Monuments 2021 template for qatar are not working as that i see, when i try to upload a picture by using qatari upload wizard. --Bachounda (talk) 10:00, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WLM[edit]

Hallo Romaine, long time no see :-) Ik vroeg me af hoe een afbeelding zoals bv. deze (reeds op 23 April 2020 toegevoegd) op Kylemore Abbey, deel kan uitmaken van deze category. Of heb ik het daar totaal fout? Thanks. Lotje (talk) 08:23, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lotje, De afbeelding toegevoegd op 13 april aan Wikipedia is een andere afbeelding en niet dezelfde. Romaine (talk) 15:39, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About WLM in Algeria 2021[edit]

Hi again - Please find the page of wlm algeria fixed https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2021_in_Algeria

  • also in this page would you like to add Algeria & Qatar

thanks --Bachounda (talk) 10:05, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bachounda, The banner has just been activated. Also I fixed some links on Alergia's landing page. The map will be updated by someone else, I have notified someone who will do that. Thanks! Romaine (talk) 15:29, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
thanks ::: Romaine,

and what about the Qatar campaign ?

I added arabic lg to this template Template:Historical Monument Qatar, however until now cant see the automatic category https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Images_from_Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2021_in_Qatar

Hi Bachounda, The Template:Historical Monument Qatar is for indicating which identifier belongs to the monument in the picture. This template can be used also outside the WLM contest and is not intended to add the contest category Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2021 in Qatar.
For each country there is a contest category (Category:Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2021 in Qatar) and a content category (Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Qatar). It all seems to work fine here. Romaine (talk) 21:30, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Monuments in Qatar - Extention to 11/15[edit]
