User page[edit]

Hi, The user page deleted by you recently is my renamed username and have some pages linked to it. Can you please redirect and protected for those username of which the account was renamed.-❙❚❚❙❙ JinOy ❚❙❚❙❙ 13:16, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gnoeee, The reason why the redirect was deleted was because it was broken and it ended up in the Special:BrokenRedirects ready to be deleted. It ends up in this list because the actual page where it points to does not exist on Commons (as the page of meta is shown). Restoring as it was would mean that it would be added to this maintenance list, simple waiting for the next admin to have it deleted. Simple deleting seems no option, also because it would mean that if every renamed user would want this, this maintenance list would be cluttered full with this kind of broken redirects and would frustrate the maintenance this page is intended for. What else is possible? In this case I would strongly suggest that a {{SOFTREDIRECT}} redirect is created instead. In that way you have it linked to the new user page, as well as that it does not show up in maintenance list of broken redirects to be deleted. Can you create the softredirect? Thanks! Greetings - Romaine (talk) 16:10, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ya, i was also thinking why the page has been deleted 3rd time. Thankyou for providing the information and suggestion. Will create a softredirect. Thanks ❙❚❚❙❙ JinOy ❚❙❚❙❙ 18:06, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request translation[edit]

Hoi!

Ik kon gisteren de pagina voor WLA niet helemaal vertalen, omdat de laatste toevoeging over de verschillende categorieën nog niet gemerkt is voor vertaling. Zou jij dat even willen doen? deze. Ciell (talk) 22:04, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ciell, Done Done - Romaine (talk) 17:34, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo Romaine, long time no see...

Groetjes - Romaine (talk) 00:27, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Earth 2020[edit]

Hi Romaine,

Wiki Loves Earth 2020 is coming. The international team is happy to continue our preparations. We've sent you an email regarding the CentralNotice banner for WLE this year, please, check it. Thanks in advance!

Looking forward to working with you on WLE this year!

Best regards, Anastasiia Petrova, Project Manager for International Wiki Loves Earth 2020

Hi, @Romaine: !

We have Uganda starting on May 9, would you be able to help with the upload infrastructure and banners for them?

New countries declared their participation this year and we expect to have more. Should I send you updates when we have new countries added? Please, let me know which system would be convenient for you. Thanks in advance!

Best, Anastasiia

Hi Anastasiia, Sorry I missed the one of 9 May, usually they start at the first day of the month. I will work on this now. Thanks for the notice! Romaine (talk) 23:31, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Anastasiia: I read on the page that in Uganda it only runs for 2 weeks? Isn't that a bit short? Romaine (talk) 23:44, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Romaine, Great, thanks a lot for your help! Regarding the timeline: I think it's fine, as it's a minimum duration for a local contest we advise to choose. Local teams are free to decide when exactly to hold their contest within the international timeframe, though we advise to do it for no less than two weeks and no more than two months. Best, Anastasiia

Belgium-Netherlands boundary stones (Continuation)[edit]

Hi Slleong, I renamed the categories, so you can continue with them if you would like. One thing I am not sure I am happy about is the name of the top category: Cast-iron boundary points Belgium-Netherlands. Along the border between Belgium and the Netherlands the largest part is cast-iron, not not all of them are. Between many of the cast-iron ones are also stones that also have a number.

Hi Romaine, I thought I would move our conversation here rather than at Ciel's user talk. Thank you for changing the categories into English. Just that it has a bit of a spelling error for boundary and I shall do the corrections as time allows. I am also not exactly happy about the top category name, but it had been established long before I started doing things with this category. Wonder if we could make the "Belgium-Netherlands boundary stones" as the main top category, and the cast iron boundary point, markings on the road and others as a subsidiary category.slleong (talk) 15:48, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi slleong, For this kind of things bots exist. Spelling fixed! About the category structure I am not yet clear what solution will be the best. It has no hurry. Romaine (talk) 18:57, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Romaine: , @Slleong: ; bumping into this conversation , does Category:Highest point of the Netherlands (Vaalserberg) fits in that category too? Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 06:30, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It is a tricky one, but I think yes: the middle one is boundary mark number one. The weird thing is, it is not located at any border, but at the highest point of the Netherlands (which is not at the border at all). I am still looking for info why that happened. Romaine (talk) 07:38, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Lotje: For this purpose I have created a separate category for the border stone itself at Category:Belgium-Netherlands boundary stone no. 1 (Plombières/Vaals). Romaine (talk) 07:53, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
highest point on the left, tripoint on right; open image and hoover over to see annotation in photo
Hi @Lotje: and Romaine. This question has perplexed me for quite a bit and I've been trying to read up as much as possible on it. I understand that the highest point of Vaalserberg in not on any border (Be-NL or NL-Ger) nor at the tripoint (Be-Ger-NL) and is in fact totally within the territory of the Netherlands, although located very near the tripoint. The monument marking the summit somehow used "recycled" border stones/pillars No 1 of the Belgian-Dutch border, and those of the old Dutch-Prussian border No 193. The "new" 193 marks the current tripoint. Some of the captions of the old photos in Wikimedia Commons on Vaalserberg seem to suggest this. The question I am keen to know is whether the stones were moved from their original positions to this point, or were the borders redrawn sometime in history to their current locations. I unfortunately am nowhere near Vaalserberg and have never been, so can't say first hand. Romaine is probably the best person to verify this.slleong (talk) 07:58, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, forgot to thank you for correcting the spelling error. Thanks Romaine.slleong (talk) 07:59, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi slleong, I did read somewhere that the border stones at the highest point are moved here (recycled), so far I know the border hasn't been it the highest point. I hope to find more sources about this weird situation. Romaine (talk) 08:01, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Lotje & slleong, See photo: On the left is the highest point + boundary stone no. 1 and on the right is the tripoint stone. This photo is taken on the border BE-NL and runs from the standing point straight towards the tripoint (on the right). Romaine (talk) 09:10, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Thanks for the photo. I guess then maybe the category for boundary stone No. 1 cannot be under the "Belgium-Netherlands boundary stones" category as it is not functioning as a boundary stone at the moment. It's to mark the summit of Vaalserberg.slleong (talk) 09:55, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi slleong, and now we enter the tricky part: no. 1 is part of the legal register of boundary stones between Belgium and the Netherlands. For that reason I would keep it in the category. Romaine (talk) 09:58, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Haha. Indeed this is complicated. Good that Belgium doesn't take this opportunity to claim that little pocket of land south of the highest point to the tripoint. slleong (talk) 13:32, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi once again. Thanks for uploading pictures of the closure of border crossings between Belgium and Netherlands. I was just going to ask you if there were many people uploading such pictures. I read that it is pretty dramatic at Baarle-Nassau/Baarle-Hertog, with half of a shop having to shut while the other half is open.slleong (talk) 08:32, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi slleong, Not that I am aware of, I only noticed File:Grensversperring vanwege Covid-19 tussen het Belgische Teuven en Nederlandse Slenaken.jpg. Perhaps people can be asked to take some photos now they still can. But this photo inspired me to visit them too. In 50 years there is no border closure/checks between Belgium-Netherlands until now due corona. It seems to me a once in a lifetime experience, so that must be on a photo! :-)
In Baarle I do not think there is so much drama, they seem to be used to the weird. It are two municipalities, but if I am not mistaken it has only one (joined) municipality council, but this council has to take both the Belgium law and the Dutch law into practise. As result of the Benelux and the EU, police from one country is allowed to enter the other country in pursuit of criminals. In the long past this was different, then a criminal could simple cross the street to avoid police. There are so many stories there.
Perhaps you have seen this article already: Wire of Death, this was the border during World War I. :-S Romaine (talk) 09:09, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Thanks for the truly amazing pictures of Vaalserberg with the barriers. I don't think anyone could have imagined that this can happen on the Belgium-Netherlands border! Yes, really reminds you of the Wire of Death! This is history being recorded. Maybe this could be a Dutch Wikipedia project. :) As for Baarle, I managed to read this interesting story. Stay safe.slleong (talk) 02:28, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi slleong, The Baarle story was in the news in Belgium and the Netherlands too (the media is boring themselves and is looking for "news").
Haha. Yup. The journalists have to find all kinds of stories to survive. Makes interesting reading.slleong (talk) 09:33, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You said you like border stones, did you already see this one: File:Mergraotegemeintebordwkped05.JPG. It was the border stone from the municipality Margraten, so far I am aware of (but I am not that much aware) the only municipality who created such border stones in the Netherlands. (If you are able to spot more of them, it would be could to have a category for it.) After the municipality Margraten merged into Eijsden-Margraten, the old white ones were removed and they got new ones. I created for these new ones this category: Category:Eijsden-Margraten boundary stones. If you come across them somewhere, please add them to this category. Thanks! Romaine (talk) 21:35, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. If I do come across any picture of these border stones while combing through Wikimedia Commons, I will certainly do the necessary. You mean no other Dutch municipality has created boundary stones like that? By the way, I don't think I have thanked you for all the new pictures of border stones/pillars that you have uploaded. I think you have single handedly covered the entire southeastern corner of the Netherlands. Great work! Do you live near the border?slleong (talk) 09:33, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi slleong, Yes, so far I know there is no other municipality with border stones, but I do not know everything. Just haven't been across any other cases.
From time to time I have the need to go out, but I prefer to have a focus and to make it useful. Then making a tour to make photographs is a good focus. About private situations I do not make statements on a public page like this where everyone can read it. I certainly can say I love the area. Yesterday I have visited 22b to 48nl (without 45be to 48be), so I reached Maastricht. I am looking forward to continue, perhaps even to the last one at the coast. It is like walking the Pieterpad, people like to have a goal to follow. I like that idea + the idea to do something useful as I try to photograph everything that I come across and of which I know that me or others can use it in articles yet to be written about various subjects. Often I need a trigger to go out for something, like someone who asked about a photograph of the most southern border stone of the Belgium-Netherlands border. You asked for the southern and western border boundary, any reason why you did not ask for the most northern Belgian border stone? Romaine (talk) 10:43, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm glad this little boundary stone project has given you such sense of purpose. Wikipedia and everyone will benefit from it certainly. I hope someday I will get a chance to visit this area of the Netherlands. As for not asking about the northernmost point of Belgium, there is actually already one photo of Boundary Pillar 219, so I thought I would not be so greedy to ask for more. :) The one other request which I didn't ask but hope someone will have a photo of, is the easternmost point of the Netherlands, which is the Germany-Netherlands border crossing point on the motorway at Bad Nieuweschans. This will complete the extreme points for the European part of the Netherlands. :) slleong (talk) 09:46, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations for reaching Smeermaas, your original target! And for continuing your journey beyond. Thank you for all the wonderful photos.slleong (talk) 08:37, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi slleong, Thanks! I think to continue the journey, but there are some other things to take care of first. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 13:38, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

WLE invitations[edit]

Hi, @Romaine!

To spread the word about Wiki Loves Earth 2020 we can invite participants from previous WLE editions and other Wikimedia photo contests by posting the invitation on their talk pages. Would you have time/opportunity to help out with posting them? I have sent the etherpad with recipients and translations of 7 countries by email. Looking forward to your feedback!

Many thanks in advance for your answer and help. Best, Anastasiia

About Commons:Wiki Loves Earth 2020/Italy target list. I see that you initiated massmessage for it but I don't see Italy in MediaWiki message delivery contributions. Hi Ата, I don't know, I am not sure what went wrong. Romaine (talk) 18:41, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Let me try again... Romaine (talk) 18:52, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Might it have to do with 7k recipients? Also I believe there used to be some MassMessage queue stats on Special:Statistics but now I do not see it elsewhere (grafana? no clue how to navigate it). Legoktm, can you help perhaps? --Base (talk) 05:11, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for help[edit]

Hi Romaine,

Do you know someone that could help me fix the upload button? The problem is that now it takes the category, but if not, it do nothing, I want to it use that qid id name as category, if we do not have a category for that photo yet. Do know someone, or could you help me? i.e. Commons:Wiki Loves Earth 2020 in Brazil/Lista/Minas Gerais

Thank you. -- Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 04:10, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton, see it is part of a query page. I do not have enough knowledge to incorporate it in query pages. Thinking if I know someone to fix this I can't think of anyone. Perhaps you can ask it on Commons:Help desk or on Wikidata. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 04:16, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Heritage/Wiki Loves Monuments Belgium[edit]

Did you just disqualify Belgium from WLM 2020? Are there any efforts to be made that the monuments parts will be incorporated into the international contest? Just curious as an uploader who already started uploading because of the rules as stated at the time of upload. --Wuselig (talk) 16:07, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wuselig, It is not a disqualification, but was added to the WLM page by mistake. Wiki Loves Heritage (WLH) is organised for the third time and has never been part of WLM, but is organised as separate contest. While both WLM and WLH are about heritage, there are major differences between the contests. While WLM is only about heritage buildings, WLH is about all kinds of heritage in the most broad sense of the word. WLH also lasts four months, while WLM is only one month. Further, the way how it has been set up is different. Wiki Loves Heritage is not connected with WLM and so far I know only organised in Belgium. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 05:45, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the clarification. Because it was on the WLM-Page for this short time I became aware of it for the first time. I think many more Wikimedians would too, if it was more prominently advertised. Couldn't the overlapping part, regarding Imovable Heritage be included in WLM? I will be participating this year, and I will also add a lot of my GLAM-pictures. I would not have, hadn't I found out by accident through this accidental advertisment on the "wrong" page. --Wuselig (talk) 09:17, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Wuselig, To my opinion the photo contest WLH should have been more prominently advertised, but that is up to the local organisers. I had not noticed it before either, until I saw it on the wrong page. Including in WLM would give a lot of complications. Romaine (talk) 09:54, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

WLM 2020 of Iraq CentralNotice banner[edit]

Hi Romaine, WLM 2020 in Iraq is collaborating with a company for sponsorship. They have contacted the International Team to check whether the logo of the company or the name in text (such as "in collaboration with ABC company") can be put on the CentralNotice banner of Iraq. I wanted to check with you on this. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 13:50, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi KCVelaga, Thank you for reaching out! For the CentralNotice it is only allowed that images hosted on Wikimedia servers are allowed and links must always point to Wikimedia controlled websites. Practically this means that a logo must be free of copyright, which is often not the case. But these are the rules, in practise it is even more strict. For various photo contests the logo's and other extra images have been removed by WMF staff, so I do not think they would allow a logo of a company. Also a banner has a very limited amount of space available, which means that in a banner only the minimal information is added and no links that are secondary to the message. Finally links to commercial companies are in the worldwide community also considered to be controversial. If a local team wants to mention a sponsorship, they should do such on the landing page where all the participants from a country go to, and there it can be explained what the sponsorship includes. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 06:42, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the detailed response. The logo is on Wikimedia Commons, File:Asiacell Arabic Logo.jpg - however, I am not sure if {{PD-textlogo}} is actually works for this or not. From what I have understood from the Iraqi organizers, the company is ready to release the logo through OTRS. In any which way, if logo can't be put up, that is fine. Coming to the text aspect, the redirection of the CentralNotice will of course go the landing page. The line "in collaboration with ABC company" may be as the subtitle, just the text, no links to an external website. Let me know if this is workable. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 04:44, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi KCVelaga, Sorry, I do not think it is possible in a banner as such is too controversial. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 02:59, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I understand, thanks for clarifying. I will communicate the same to Iraqi organizers, along with the reasoning. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 06:58, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

WLM Georgia Banner[edit]

Finlands Wiki Loves Monuments banner[edit]

Hi, I updated our WordPress installation and something borked and site http://wlm.wikimedia.fi is down. I am not sure yet what broke, but if it is possible it would be nice to direct the banner to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2020_in_Finland until it is fixed. FYI @Susannaanas: too. --Zache (talk) 10:35, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, it is up again. Not sure though what actually happened as it failed with errors. --Zache (talk) 10:38, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Probably participating WLM: The Gambia[edit]

Hello Romaine,

how are you?

I asked User:Onix228 if he would like to participate with his country The Gambia in WLM (alternatively WLE). He had tried twice in the last two years to get support from WMF, but in vain. Probably a form error. -> see also meta:User talk:Onix228

I think a photo contest is a good way to make a small "sign" and spread the Open Content movement in this country. If 100 pictures are published afterwards, it would be a great success, I think. Maybe this will lead to the foundation of an own chapter later.

Is that still enough to start on a low level for October?

What is still missing?

  • I have made an entry page (page)
  • I made a structure with categories
  • An upload campaign wlm-gm is still missing
  • The flag is still missing (Template:Wiki Loves Monuments country logos)
  • ?

Would you like to help Onix228 further? Greetings from Germany. --Atamari (talk) 19:55, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Atamari & Onix228: Thank you for reaching out.
How heavy/light WLM is organised in a country does not matter, as long as the minimal requirements are met. Especially point 5 and 6. If budget is an issue, maybe the international WLM team has a small budget and/or a chapter in another country is willing to cover the costs for a prize. Various big chapters have large budgets, it just needs to be explained to them why/how/etc.
The categories, flag and the upload campaign are my responsibility. I will have a look at it next week, or earlier. As the main language in Gambia is English, no translations are needed.
The landing page can use some improvements, by using this example or this one.
If the number of monuments in Gambia eligible in the photo contest is limited to 16 or something like that and a full list is available, it is possible to create a direct upload link for each monument, which would make it a lot easier for uploaders to participate. Is there a way to get the list of monuments complete? (if complete, I can help with the upload link)
Greetings - Romaine (talk) 06:58, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Romaine (with ping to Onix228),

Thanks for your answer.

My list of answers:

Point 5 (Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2020/Organise#Requirements for local teams) "You have a jury (at least 3 jurors)":

  • primarily the jury should come from the country - The Gambia - in this case I would like to help here - since I have multiple jury experience in Germany (WLM and WLE-Contest). Furthermore, two other former jury colleagues can ask to help here. But I would be very happy if Onix228 can win three gambian people who do not submit pictures for the contest.

Item 6 (Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2020/Organise#Requirements for local teams) "You give one or more winners a prize":

  • This should also be possible, perhaps Onix228 can courageously ask Africell or other companies if they can make a small donation in kind. If this does not work on such short notice, I would be willing to provide 10000 Dalasi (about 160 Euro) for the first price. It should not fail in the first year. It would be better if the WMF could provide financing. Maybe you can help Romaine here and formulate the application in the proper way.

Categories and other technical things on Commons:

  • I've already arranged a few things. Thanks, Romaine, for your continued help. When pictures are uploaded during the competition in October (very important, they have to be at least somewhere in the category system Category:Gambia), I will look and put them in the best possible categories. And also try to give the uploaders a little technical help.

Landing page:

  • When I set up the landing page I took the Aruba site as a model, it looked like a good fit for me. Gladly improvements may be made here from all sides.

Number of monuments and their completeness:

  • Yes, the number is not large. Definitely in the focus of the competition are all World Heritage Sites. For the National Monuments of The Gambia it will be difficult. Listed are those where I really have written proof that they are recognized as National Monuments of The Gambia. I wrote to the National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC) for this purpose on September 14, but so far without success. Maybe they will reply or they are too suspicious of a request from a European. On their website there are more objects (https://ncac.gm/sacred-sites/) but no explicit mention of a National Monument of The Gambia. Or we allow a grey zone by allowing old historical buildings and structures (older than 100 years for example). Helpful is also the book, which I also own in the print version, "Historic Sites of The Gambia" by Baba Ceesay (free download available: https://www.academia.edu/2170179/Historic_Sites_of_The_Gambia_Ada_Dinkiralu_Mandinka_Bereb_I_Chosan_Wolof_Tarica_Tawal_Fula_Nannin_Jola_Soninke_Ada_Serehuli_I_Mofan_).

  • If you think Romaine can improve all this with an upload link - gladly. In the list I have added the existing categories.

--Atamari (talk) 21:47, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Atamari, Sorry for the delay! Had an important exam the past weeks what stressed me out too much.
  • Jury: Seems okay.
  • Prize: seems okay.
  • Categories and other technical things on Commons:
  • Landing page: As I said, improvements are welcome, but seems ready. Only one point: it stills says "September".
  • Monuments: Just make clear on the landing page to participants which monuments are allowed in this contest.
  • Upload link: I will see what I can do.
  • Important: update needed here: Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2020/Participating countries: Please update by moving it to the main table + add the contest period.
If the two things are fixed, the contest will start at the upcoming midnight. Romaine (talk) 12:22, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Onix228 & Atamari, I added the upload links in the list of monuments table on Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in the Gambia. In this way participants can easy upload photos that are automatically categorised in the right category. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 07:35, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Atamari & Romaine, thanks for all the efforts gathered to make this year event possible. At the ground level, I got in touch with the National Centre For Arts & Culture (NCAC) to validate the list of the monuments listed in Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in the Gambia and it's all good. So I'll open the campaign to call for participation this week. Romaine technically I wish to understand and know how to explain to participants the meaning of the ID field. Do I have to predefine the field or does it need a particular way ? Atamari for the jury, I already spoke about it to different persons who agreed to join the committee including myself. And about the prize, Africell and most of the potential partners are not very open and have very long and hectic procedures to provide informations as you experienced with the NCAC. So I think we will go for any contribution or donation possible from personals or WLM chapters. We can work out the materials for communication (flyers) to call for participation from now and begin the campaign, so I wish you remove the possibly participating. Best Regards User:Onix228

answered there [1] --Atamari (talk) 11:56, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Onix228, In the upload wizard there is no ID field present (so far I can see). Which ID field do you mean? Or do you want to define an ID field in the upload wizard? (If so, then which ID's are going to be used?) Greetings - Romaine (talk) 13:09, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Onix228 do you mean "Step 3' : Write down what you photographed. Record the site's name, the monument ID, description, and date of photo. "? This would be my mistake (it's a c&p error), we do not have the monument ID in Gambia. Or it is not known to me and is managed internally by NCAC. --Atamari (talk) 13:26, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Atamari and User:Romaine, yes Atamari it's at that "Step 3" I'm talking about. There is no ID for monument here from what I know. Thanks again Onix228 (talk) 13:43, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Campaign:wlm-in[edit]

Is it possible to hide Wikidata ID field for uploaders (or at least for new users) while uploading? The IDs are anyway pre-filled from the monuments lists. This will eliminate any possible vandalism. @Bodhisattwa: FYI. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 08:31, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@KCVelaga: So far I know there is no option to only hide the field for new uploaders. Or the field would stay or would be fully removed, meaning no IDs are added to the file pages.
As there is always a risk that something goes wrong, including vandalism or not knowing what to do with the field, the tracking template connected to this field usually contains some code to check if the ID added is following the ID formatting. If not: the file page is added to a tracking category. It seems this has not been enabled for the tracking template, but such can be done by writing a module that gives as output right/false.
If the tracing category for errors has been created, one possibility is that a bot removes the tracking template if the file page is in the error category. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 06:42, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing template[edit]

Hi Romaine, I noticed that you're good with templates, so if you have some time, can you please help me with this one?

Short explanation: currently there are categories Category:Arak (as a disambiguation page) and Category:Arak, Iran (as a city), and since the latter one has a priority over the first and also namesake villages, there are categories like Category:History of Arak, Category:Geography of Arak, etc. Inside the mentioned template, I put both ..Arak... and ...Arak, Iran..., so at the moment if you open Category:Arak, Iran you'll see two Araks are shown (disamb and city), but it should show only one (city). So:

  1. Since both Category:Arak and Category:Arak, Iran exists, template should catch only the last one ([[Category:Arak, Iran|Arak]]).
  2. In all other cases, ...Arak... should have priority over ...Arak, Iran... (there are useless redirects, mostly nominated for deletion).

I tried to fix it several times (see history), but without a luck. :(

P.S. There are several other templates with the same issue, but if you help me with this one, I'm sure that I'll solve all others by myself. --Orijentolog (talk) 22:38, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sudan[edit]

Hello Romaine We will participate in the event this year. Please, help with creating the campaign wlm-sd Allamiro ( talk)01:25, 07 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi Allamiro, Thank you for your message. I created all the on-wiki tech infrastructure so the WLM contest can run in Sudan.
I also created Template:Upload campaign header wlm-sd/ar based on another Arabic header message and replaced the name of the country. Please check if this is the right way of saying it in Arabic.
If there are any questions or issues, please let me know! Greetings - Romaine (talk) 05:31, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sidebar link to commons, how to repair[edit]

Groetjes - Romaine (talk) 12:31, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

WLM in 7 countries of the Arab region[edit]

Hello dear Roman, this month of November is very active for the organizers of the Arab region.

Please check for Morocco + Sudan if all is well

Since they have created their page affirming their participation we must go to the next step for Syria + Lebanon + Palestine + Jordan + Mauritania.

  1. Update the map with the missing countries
  2. Central notices for each country
  3. Download campaigns for each country

update for mauritania as well

best --Bachounda (talk) 08:06, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Bachounda, The map with countries in maintained by Effeietsanders. If any country is missing on the map, please ask him to update the map. Let me see if for all various countries it is ready to start:
  • Morocco + Sudan + Syria + Lebanon + Palestine + Jordan + Mauritania are listed on the list of countries: Done Check
  • Landing pages:
    • For Sudan the landing page seems ready: Done Check
    • For Morocco I think an improvement is needed: please make clear on the landing page that the participants have to click on the camera icon. On hold Not ready
    • For Syria + Lebanon + Palestine + Jordan I am wondering why I only see a landing page in English, while the native language is Arabic. Will the landing page be translated? On hold Not ready
    • For Mauritania the landing page is missing: On hold Not ready
  • I made the upload infrastructure ready: Done Check
The upload campaigns are ready, but the CentralNotice cannot start until the landing pages are ready. Romaine (talk) 12:58, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I also created Template:Upload campaign header wlm-mr/ar based on another Arabic header message and replaced the name of the country. Please check if this is the right way of saying it in Arabic. Romaine (talk) 13:05, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nidhal, Omar, Rami and Chafei07, See the message above. For Syria + Lebanon + Palestine + Jordan the landing pages are only available in English, and I hope you will translate the pages to Arabic. The landing page of Mauritania is still missing. Please make sure the landing pages are ready before the start at 1 November. Thanks! Romaine (talk) 13:05, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Roman ! Thanks for your observations and suggestions So we made some modifications, you can take a look on the landing page of Mauritania. We are waiting your response.

hello ROMAN , we need help regarding reactivating the upload wizard tool for wiki loves monuments in Rwanda (Special:UploadWizard?campaign=wlm-rw) because the contest end date has been extend from 5th.11 to 17th.11, this is because at the moment participants are not able to submit their uploads yet the contest timeline has been extended (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants_talk:Project/Rapid/Jeanette_Rebecca_Nyinawumuntu/Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2020_in_Rwanda)...
