Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki ‒ it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Hey, when was this taken? I'm sure 2006 can't be right - it doesn't have the traffic lights which were introduced around 2000 iirc. -mattbuck (Talk) 22:45, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'll change the date to 1991ish then. Thanks for your help. -mattbuck (Talk) 12:47, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Sudan_coa.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Sudan_coa.png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Tip: Categorizing images
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:16, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Huh
Observant - most folk don't notice :). It just reduces patrolling if I spot someone who doesn't need patrolling - if you feel rollback would be worthwhile nudge me. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 14:29, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Paulius Galaune
I am very worried that the English Wikipedia article on Paulius Galaune is a fake. Particularly the photograph allegedly of him is not real - its description has been altered. I think all the references are fake too. I have been banned on ENglish Wikipedia for trying to point out the hoax. Please help me, and you can find the link for the illigitemate edit to the image at [1]. Anton dvsk (talk) 23:02, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- I'll take a look at it. Rodhullandemu (talk) 23:03, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks so much. I have lost talk page access on English Wiki due to a rogue administrator. Anton dvsk (talk) 23:05, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- I am not so much an expert on this sort of thing, and the one linked source on the English Wikipedia, and the Lithuanian Wiki, seem to confirm that this person existed. That leaves the image. If it is being incorrectly used in an article to which it does not belong, I'd suggest you mention it at the Admin noticeboard here, because I am not an admin here and can do little about it. Hope that helps. Cheers. Rodhullandemu (talk) 23:13, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

You're now a filemover
Hi Rodhullandemu/Archive, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:
- Use the CommonsDelinker link in the Rename template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one.
- Please do not tag redirects as Speedy. Other projects, like InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references.
- For guideline when to rename a file, please see here.
--Màñü飆¹5 talk 23:51, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you; that was impressively fast. Much obliged. Rodhullandemu (talk) 23:55, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Lincoln Castle
Hi Rod. File:LincolnCastlePrisonChapelHarangue.jpg
I note the caption to your picture in Lincoln Castle showing a priest "haranging the prisoners" has now been changed to "where they were taught how to lead better lives by the chaplain"
I have previously seen a Lincoln jail information board using the word "haranguing" so I'm certain your caption is correct but can't find a reference. Can you help? Regards JRPG (talk) 18:13, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- I can't remember seeing a specific reference to "harangue", and I didn't take notes at the time, but it's up to the articles using the image to use an appropriate caption. I've no particular preference. Rodhullandemu (talk) 19:38, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- Firstly thanks for the swift response. It'll have to wait 'til I go back to the castle as its also missing from my photos. JRPG (talk) 20:58, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
The Skirting Board Incident - Dustin Gee
Dear Rodhullandemu,
Could you let me know why this section was removed from the Dustin Gee entry? I couldn't find the reference in 'Car Crash Culture'.
- I removed it because I judged it to be a piece of trivia which says nothing about Gee in relation to the man or his career, and inappropriate to be in a scholarly work such as Wikipedia. It's a minor event, and en:WP:UNDUE to include it; my opinion is reinforced by the fact that it is also unsourced. Rodhullandemu (talk) 19:46, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
